Memphis folks are losing their mind over this as “revenge” against Cal.
Now we just wait to see if Penny ends up being the next Leonard Hamilton.

I wonder what Penny's recruiting strategy will be when his high school/aau team runs out of guys he can easily get. Or maybe those players he can win enough with to get the big time guys moving forward.
That's 4 East high school (from Memphis) players that will be on the team next year for Memphis. He coached East high school before joining the Memphis program.

Probably the same strategy as every other big time CBB recruiter. Exposure, putting guys in the NBA, and $$$

Memphis kids almost ALWAYS growing up wanting to play for Memphis (basketball, not football LOL).
As long as Memphis is producing high level kids, recruiting will be fine.

My mom says there's a lot of black people in Memphis

Penny will not lose a single black kid from Shelby County, it’s as simple as that.

Penny paying off already. They were a very well coached team when they came to BR. He has some deep ties into the AAU circuit. He has the potential to be a dominant recruiter up there.

I wasn't implying anything, asking what will he do when he actually has to really recruit. Right now, 4 of the guys he's gotten in 2 classes were from literally the high school team he coached for (he coached them all personally). I cant imagine he's taking 2 guys from there every single class.

Well, if Will Wade is a successful recruiter why in the hell do you think Penny Hardaway wouldn't be geography be damned? Penny is still a basketball icon and his sneaker is the #2 all-time selling Nike basketball sneaker behind Air Jordan. Penny can get into any living room and he has contacts with all the leading AAU coaches.

Again, I'm not IMPLYING anything. It's a question, right now he seems like it's super easy because he can sell a vision and just pickup guys he personally coached. My question is once the vision wears off, and say if things ARENT totally turned around, how will he perform when it's not his own high school kids. That's what I'm interested in seeing.
