sources close to him say he is expected make a full recovery. He is out for the season and will more than likely have to give up football. I hate it for the young man.

I really hate that he may have to give up football. But at least he will be able to walk.

I am very glad to hear that, living a normal life is so much more important than football.

Hopefully he will appreciate his physical abilities and go on to do something good with his life.

Glad to hear he'll make a full recovery. You hate to see that happen to anyone.

That is wonderful news. I prayed for that kid when that happened and last night. I am really glad to hear this news. I have been looking for an update in the news but I appreciate you posting this.

I heard them say yesterday that he had a neck injury. Do you have any idea what happened?

I saw the game, and the announcers were saying that he had feeling in all portions of his body and made it sound as if he would be fine, so they made the situation sound a little better than it apparently is. What specific injuries did he suffer and which one or ones will be the cause for him having to give up football? That's a shame for anybody.

I just can't help but to think of the Auburn Everyday video clip where he was being the vocal leader at half of the Arkansas loss.

At least he will still have his scholarship so he can get a degree from a good school and have a successful life. What exactly happened to him? Someone posted something about cracked vertebrae and internal bleeding, but would they have let him move his arms if he had a broken neck?

no word on the exact injuries. I don't think anything was broken. His facebook pic is him in the hospital bed in a neck brace surrounded by his family. I didn't friend him but did send him a message of encouragement.

I just wanted to add that Chizik gave Rodney Scott props for having the presence of mind to keep still until the medical staff could attend to Etheridge.

Last I heard he was expected to make a full recovery but has a good chance of coming back next season but that is not final obviously.

I hate hearing he'll be forced to give up on his dream, but at the same time I'm thankful he was blessed by not having any serious physical damage.

I wish him the best of luck in future endeavours and I hope he still stays in school.

From what I could see it was pretty damn bad and he is fortunate to have a prognosis for a full recovery. The medical team had some tough decisions about moving and prepping for the ambulance....damn good job by everyone involved.

Sad to hear that is career is over, but extremely happy that he will still be able to walk and function. I hope all the best for him and his family and hope that he can get his degree and use it to make more out of his life than he ever could have with football.

ETA: Thanks for sharing the update.

Yeah, it's a shame he might not be able to continue w/ his football career, but that's pretty insignificant in the big picture.

A big to all the classy fans in this thread.

my worst fear is for a player to get paralyzed or even killed on the field. It is going to happen. It has happened before and it will happen again.
