Like TBird said, it's TexAgs/Zoo humor(which sucks) so you're definitely given a pass for not knowing.

Pretty sure Ray Childress wasn't a LB.

t's a sign of your age when you leave off the only two Alabama players to ever be named consensus all americans 3 times in their college career. Bennett and Woodrow Lowe (who most people forget was a stud at BAMA). It also shows how most players collegiate legacy is dictated by their pro career. Bennett's stats are not flashy because much like LT or Dion Sanders teams stayed away from his side of the field.
Calm down.

Totally forgot about him, but you would be absolutely correct.
Al Richardson racked up an eye-popping 452 tackles in his collegiate career at LSU, which is a school record to this day. After all, how many players can say that they recorded 21 tackles in a single game during their college career? I know Kevin Minter had a lot in one game this year, but I just cant recall the number.

It's a shame Al Wilson suffered that neck injury. The Denver Broncos' defense suffered for years after he was forced to retire. We still haven't had a middle linebacker near his caliber.

He should have an award named after him or something, isn't that what all LB's strive to be? 27 sacks in one season will be a mark he'll hold for a long time IMO......it's mind boggling really...

Yes he was. A total bad arse at UT.

No kidding. He was/is a total warrior. One of the biggest hearts I have ever seen.
Think about it. One season UT had Leonard Little, Raynoch Thompson and Al WIlson on the same team.

I would agree to this! They could add The DT award and should

IMO, you need to replace Raynoch Thompson with Jack "Hacksaw" Reynolds...

Damn, how did I forget Hacksaw?

You're right. Hacksaw was a total bad arse. He was crazy before it was cool to be a total fricking nut job.

While Vandy's list obviously ranks way below many others, their best 5 (IMO) would include the following:
1) Jamie Winborn
2) Jamie Duncan
3) Shelton Quarles
4) Hunter Hillenmeyer
5) Matt Stewart

Bama has had 19 or 20 AA Linebackers.. tough to limit to 5.
