If you don't play in the Conference Championship game, it's a little bit of a stretch to say Division Champs. Maybe use co-division.

The past is dead, and no matter how hard we try to remember it, it will never be real again.

I would put 2008 Oklahoma above 2003 Oklahoma. At least they won their conference.

A&M was in a 3 way tie for the south, beat both teams that played for the title, and only didn't go by virtue of BCS ranking. If we had played 4 cupcakes in 2010 instead of 10-win Arkansas, we would have played a rematch vs. Nebraska.

LSU's should only be for 2000's and 2010's...

And yet, in 2000, LSU still had a higher all-time win percentage and lead the head-to-head against Auburn. And yes, that was after the worst decade in LSU football history.

I understand what he's saying. Y'all beat Alabama (the infamous "Punt Bama Punt" game) but they won the SEC because of playing an extra SEC game against Kentucky or Vanderbilt.

While '01 was a great team, why not '06? They won the BCS.
Honest question.

01 was Spurrier's most talented team. Loaded on both sides of the ball. Similar to LSU's 06 team.

Just going by final AP rankings (*3 teams listed if 3 teams finished AP #1 in a decade):
1980: 10-2, #6 1981: 9-2-1, #7

I might put 1989 Bama above 1981 but it is close. Both years were shared SEC championships, and the way 1989 ended was much worse than 1981. Those were both years that "could have been."

It's insane all the talent that was squandered in the 80s due to bad coaching (Cornelius Bennett, Bobby Humphrey, Derrick Thomas, etc.).

The defense though was horrendous. But since the offense was setting record numbers, the defense was an afterthought.

Oh gotcha. I sure won't argue. I still say the only reason LSU won the SEC that year, was because we didn't play y'all again.

Kansas State 35, Oklahoma 7.

For that reason alone I put the 2008 team above the 2003 team.

The 2008 team never lost by more than 10 points.

2001 Florida might be the best team they've ever put on a football field. That was a truly great team who had a very bad day against Tennessee.

ahem, I believe they got beat twice that year

In the grand scheme of things that season, that Auburn game meant absolutely nothing. The UT/UF game was still for the East and ended up being one of the best games in SEC history.
