While realignment may change some things, starting in 2022 Alabama plays exclusively home and home games against 1-2 power 5 opponents. The era of playing a big power 5 opener in Atlanta or Dallas has come to a close.

- Alabama went 11-0 in neutral site openers between 2008 and 2021
- Alabama won all 11 games by double digits
- Alabama's average margin of victory was 26 points
- The only games that had a MOV of less than 3 scores were 2009 Virginia Tech and 2014 West Virginia (10 pts each)

I understood it early on, but it definitely grew stale. Especially as a yearly occurrence.

Every 3-4 years, sure, but not every year.

It's not closed for us.. I think we open with UNC in Charlotte next year, or 2023.

The games still exist, we just aren't playing in them. Which is why I said "era of Alabama football"

You needed it for recruiting at first, but yeah it grew pretty stale.

Yeah because what's the point of neutral site opening game blowouts? They aren't fun for anyone, except Bama fans.

Yep, and it was a unique thing back then. It was also a magnet for big matchups (at least either brand name or pre-season rankings wise).

Still fine for a one off big game (Georgia/Oregon is a good example), but just counting on it every year is no Bueno. It sucks as a season ticket holder not to have fun P5 home and homes.

Yea - gonna be some shifting there, obviously on Oklahoma and maybe/probably? on Texas.

But obviously the Texas thing has to happen pretty quickly since the 1st game of the series is in 368 days

2018-2019 really killed them for me. What is the point in sacrificing a home game to play a team like Duke or Louisville at a neutral site?

It was fun the first time- felt like a preseason bowl, but on year 10 without a legitimate OOC road game, it's beyond time to start doing it again.

We've played one non-SEC power 5 team at home in the last 15 seasons (2010 Penn State). That sucks.

Within the next 15 years we'll get to see
- Wisconsin
- Florida State
- West Virginia
- Ohio State
- Oklahoma State
- Notre Dame
- Georgia Tech
- Arizona
- Boston College
- Virginia Tech

Not to mention we'll get to travel on return trips to those places (or pick out 2-3 of them to go to).

It's just a whole lot better.
