I think now that more pieces are in place on the offense we will start seeing less trickery and more straight forward plays.

Last year we used trick plays, which I consider the "Wildcat" a gimmick play too, to strike the defense and did a good job of running the ball. Problem is that the standard running game in this offense isn't traditional like an I or Ace formation, it is out a shotgun and uses misdirection and behind the slip hand-offs. If those plays are considered trick plays then I would put our offense at 90% trick plays.

Unfortunately, while I think that Malzahn is a very creative offensive mind and probably a top 3 coordinator in the country, I don't think he will be truly great until he can add some more traditional formations into his playbook. Hell, just adding a short down goalline formation would go a long way.

AU already has a goaline formation that they ran out of a ton of last year.

I watched every game last year and never saw a traditional goal line. Short yardage, all I remember was going into Wildcat and letting Kodi run it which I don't consider a goal line.

Well, I vividly remember AU a lot of times lining up in a 2 TE, I formation in short yardage situations. In fact, the second TD against Bama was scored from a formation that consisted of 2 TEs, an offensive lineman at fullback in the I formation. That's a traditional goaline set, imo.

Having said that, we did run out of wildcat in some short yardage situations last year which I wasnt a big fan of.

You from Dothan?? I went to N'view.

Seriously, bro?

Alabama uses trick plays all the time.

Want an example? How about two; Iron Bowl and BCSNCG. That's just two.

Just because Auburn is so much more successful at running a few trick plays doesn't mean our offense just does those type of plays.

logged out my guess would have been a widcat or a turkeyvulture. The first because it seems like I have heard it before the second simply for my own entertainment.

Nope. it is much more fun to call to arms over rumors and speculation.

Aubren's last offensive drive against Kentucky was a thing of beauty.

It wasn't just the last drive and unfortunately for us it carried over into the next week too.

just because AU licks a penis, doesn't mean their offense can't score off of being a trickeration set. Every play action pass is a damn trick play.

Trick plays that almost helped a depleted defense, and a "smoke and mirrors" offense beat a national championship team.
