I remember him at Bloomfield Hills HS when he was there. Really wanted him at State, but glad he didn't go to the a-hole at Indiana. Real good player from the Detroit area.

I'm really confused about:

a. Why a Michigan/Big10 team didn't get him, and

b. How we got him.

Someone who can play well and can manage to not embarrass his team by getting lower than a 2.0 in freshmen classes.

The guy scoring a double double in postseason play and who will graduate with a degree from his chosen school. In other words, not Ben Simmons

If I remember correctly, he was a big Michigan State fan but they didn't offer him till the eleventh hour as a backup plan and he didn't really like that. Also, he likes reptiles and we have a good reptile program lol.

We got him because we have a really great herpetology program. No shite, Yante is like a love letter to all those people that cling to the amateurism fairytale; he literally came here for the love of academics and the ability to also play some basketball. Great kid

MSU and IU offered, but he felt UGA was a better fit for him for all factors. Nothing too specific from what I recall.

On a side, I thought James Young (from Troy, which is another DET suburb), but he grew up a UK fan, and so he wasn't going to either Michigan school. But I digress.

Yeah, that made sense. I think there was a fact about MSU kind of looking at guys OOS for a bit, but I couldn't remember too specifically beforehand.

He actually got hit by a car in the off season because he chased a lizard into the street and wasn't paying attention.

I mean, I went to UGA for three years to get my law degree, and I don't recall ever seeing a lizard.

I might be wrong. I looked it up. He was hit by a car and got a concussion last year and was out for a game but it never specifies that it was him chasing lizards. My bad.

That guy has some skills, especially offensively, and he is built like a truck.

Gonna be a force next year.

Indeed we do. I took the 1st Herpetology course (35xx level or so?) as part of my classes. Was awesome. Easily a top 5 course to me.
