I thought it was supposed to start during WW2 but the Hitler invasion of France stopped it in it's track and the top players joined the war effort

It is true that the ACC is the reason it did not start this season and it is also true that FSU could have played a SEC schedule this year had Bobby Bowden not preferred being a live coward than a dead hero. I doubt if any of that gets any UGA player considering opting out from doing so. I like to think that our 3rd string with a month as 1s under Smart and company will be enough but I am concerned that no one in Athens gives a tinkers dam about the game...they did it against Texas in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago...

Watching fans of teams who are sitting out of the playoffs this year white knight for one of the two schools who almost unilaterally tipped the vote away from having a 12 team playoff is pretty unintentionally hilarious.

FSU doesn’t care their actions kept y’all out of the playoff, they are only mad because their vote kept THEM out of the playoff.

I hate it for their players but the school and their leadership itself got exactly what they deserved.

Our loss to y’all kept us out he playoffs. That wasn’t the point of the post. It was to point out it’s their own fault. The committee probably took that into account. It says it right there in my post.

I don't understand why they're all pissed off at the SEC and ESPN when they need to be pissed off at Jim Phillips and his utterly absurd and naive "alliance" that's kept not just Florida State out of the CFP, but teams all around the country.

Just an incredibly stupid and short-sighted decision.

I wasn’t directing my post at you, apologies if it felt that way.

I’ve seen fans of Ole Miss, Missouri, UGA and especially LSU wring their hands over the situation and I find it ironic when all of those teams were either in or would’ve been right in the mix to be competing for a championship right now.

UGA in particular got screwed IMO. Easily one of the 4 best teams and with a little time to get healthy could’ve won a championship in a 12 team playoff.

What's not fiction is The Alliance, a cabal of idiots formed and lead by ACC chairman Jim Phillips opposed this and anything Sankey and the sec put forth because they were butthurt over the sec adding Texas and Oklahoma. So, yes they did kill it starting this year.

What a more fun world this would be also, if they hadn’t voted the way the they did and we had 12. LSU is 13 lol

Therefore, it delayed the 12 team playoff a year
