Right now, both Ms schools are outside looking in as far as Hoover. Not that it matters but in order for State to fill a spot, State would have to take 2 from A&M and both Missouri and Georgia would have to get swept. If either wins one, then State would have to take 3 from A&M. Sound right? If either of those scenarios were to play out, it would come down to tie breakers and that's where I get lost.

Ole Miss is already out of Hoover with a weekend series remaining
Too bad Bianco won’t get a raise like Kiffin did after he lost 5 of his 6 last games

State wins tiebreaker over Mizzou if SC is highest common opponent
State wins tiebreaker over UGA if LSU is highest common opponent

#1 I don't see MSU sweeping A&M, they might get two if they hit like they did against LSU which is very possible against Aggies
#2 Missouri is not sweeping Auburn, will be lucky to get one
#3 I think UGA gets one against LSU

Scenarios where MSU jumps Missouri
There is only one path for Mississippi State to jump Missouri: MSU needs to sweep Texas A&M and Auburn needs to sweep Missouri. That would put the Bulldogs a game up on Mizzou and eliminate a tiebreaker.
Scenario where MSU jumps Georgia
Similarly to Missouri, Mississippi State needs to sweep and hope Georgia gets swept in order to avoid a tiebreaker.
Tiebreaker vs. Georgia
This is where things get interesting and games not including Missouri, Georgia and MSU start to matter. Since Mississippi State hasn’t faced Mizzou or UGA, tiebreakers come down to records against the top common opponent. MSU was swept by Vanderbilt and Arkansas, so coach Chris Lemonis’ squad needs LSU to finish atop the SEC.
A tiebreaker against Missouri would likely go against Mississippi State since Mizzou hasn’t faced LSU. Even if LSU finishes first, the next common opponent would likely be Vanderbilt. Missouri won a game against Vandy in early April. However, if South Carolina (15-11 in SEC) jumps Vanderbilt (17-10 in SEC) in the standings, Mississippi State would have the edge on Mizzou. The Gamecocks have three games against Tennessee coming up.
If Mississippi State wins two against Texas A&M and LSU sweeps Georgia, that would put UGA and MSU at 10-20.
LSU needs to finish first with 20 conference wins. That means Arkansas needs to lose two at Vanderbilt. Arkansas would finish with 20 wins, but the Razorbacks lost their series against LSU. Vanderbilt would finish with 19 wins in this scenario. If Florida sweeps Kentucky to get to 20 wins, LSU could still own the tiebreaker if South Carolina remains the top common opponent.
If Vanderbilt sweeps Arkansas to finish tied with LSU atop the conference, the Commodores would own the tiebreaker.

Besides Ole Miss, has any other team ever gone from winning a CWS to dead-arse-last in the conference?

I would say the programs are on different trajectories at the moment

State playing in the NIT, oh my bad wrong sport, but if they had one you’d be a high seed.

Not sure. But I do know of a football program that recently won a NCAA championship. Then the next season they didn’t even have a winning record. Crazy huh?
