I just now saw the LSU targeting penalty and the comparable Bama play and LSU got fricked... That's not targeting and not even close to it. These refs suck.

Yes, this didn't need a new thread

I think everyone can agree the targeting rule is flawed and enforcement of it is all over the place.

Until "Targeting" is more objectively defined by the NCAA, there cant be enough of these threads.

Tell that to Ed Orgeron.

He admitted it was targeting yesterday.

It wasn't a hard hit, but it qualifies as targeting under the current rule. I agree that they need to change some parts of it.

I heard it on the radio this morning.

Orgeron admits it was targeting by rule.

You can choose to accept it or not. Doesn't matter to me either way.

The hit turned his head further to the left.

White led with his hands/arms. What little helmet contact was the result of Fitz's helmet naturally coming downward, toward his torso and White's helmet

They just need to go back to the personal foul 15 yard penalty with no ejection on the first hit. Just do the player ejection if there’s a second personal foul on the same player in the same game. No player suspension for the next game or next half.

Bama has been screwed on these as well. Sorry that I don’t remember the players, or the games, or the circumstances. I moved on and didn’t cry about it or contribute to a billboard.

To each his own, I guess.

You do know that targeting, by rule, can mean leading with the hands/arms, right?

I mean, Orgeron even says it's the rule:

quote:

"I don't think that targeting should have been called. I think he tried to pull off and I think it's a very stiff penalty," Orgeron said of White at a foundation luncheon on Tuesday, via ESPN. "He did not try to hit him with his head. He put his hands in front, but it's the rule, so we have to move on."

But did he flail his arms wildly in a pathetic attempt to beat a downed player?
