If only. Texas baseball and South Carolina athletics would've both been better off.

But also... what? Augie was "reassigned" in 2016. We wouldn't have been looking in 2012. Are you mixing years?

I dont think this was actually true. I can't find a single source linking him to the job and as you say...Texas had their coach still. He took the AD job because he wanted it, and was ready to be done with coaching.

OP's rumor details make it hard to believe. Texass is not going to pay any HC $3 mil to coach baseball, a sport that loses money at Texass (like most places.)

When are going to realize that boosters pay these salaries? If they feel comfortable paying a baseball coach that much, they are going to pay it whether the program turns a profit or not.

LSU pays Mulkey $3.2 million a year and WBB will never turn a profit

BOOM! THere it is.

I have been trying to explain to these morons. Texas is no longer the big dog. This is the SEC. 60% of the schools have money.

Endowment means nothing. Donor checkbook size means everything.

I would be really surprised if Texas doesn't make a more diverse hire.It would not sit well with the Texas fans if a white dude got the most money of any coach in the country in a sport that is mainly white dudes. The city of Austin absolutely despises white men unless they grovel at the feet of any minority and women.

The fact you care about the color of their skin is an indication you are a racist piece of shite.

Edit: Nevermind, I see you were talking about how stupid people in Austin are.

Dude, you have no clue. Texas has 11, count them, 11 billionaire donors. Not to mention all the others. Aggies have 2. Texas is still the big dog in the SEC. Yes, there are other big dogs but not like Texas. Texas is smart though and doesn't play dumb money moves. If they want to, they certainly can. Also, would you like to put money on whether the new coach is white or not? I'll put large money he is....

dude, don't even bother with that troll.. you are new here, so you need to know that 50%+ of the posters are complete fricking idiots, or they are alters acting like complete fricking idiots, and their sole purpose on this board is to get a response.. creating a domino effect..

When you see something completely ridiculous.. my advice is to just ignore it.. but if you feel the need to respond or if you are just bored or whatever, just know that the argument you are trying to make will never be won..

In simple terms.. pretend that they are all Aggies and that they will constantly move the goalposts in order to accomplish their agenda. In this case.. they just want you to respond. My two cents.. take it or leave it.. just trying to help.

lol so we're just making shite up now for the frick of it? Vitello isn't coming. No one on the Texas side is saying this. Don't buy clickbait bs from rogers and people like him.
He has zero reason to leave Tenn. Zero.

omg this. Some of the so-called "texas" fans are nothing but aggies trying to stir the pot. I am sure some of the aggie posters are longhorns doing the same. I wouldn't get worked up about it.

With our luck it’ll be the Oregon coach.

poor longhorns.

Your fans are elitist snobs and you will buy a Coach like a trip to McDonalds but you will never be an SEC team. Your "billionaires" are about as interested in sports as the UCLA and Stanford "billionaires".

Watch the Aggies beat Oregon last night? That is what SEC ball looks like and what you will never have.

well we have to trust CDC. He's done a good job with other sports (ignore basketball his hands were tied there). No reason to think he'll frick this up but no one's perfect I guess.
Just be thankful Patterson is gone.

He has zero reason to leave Tenn. Zero.

But Josh Elander has some reasons..

Played for TCU 2011-2012 under Vitello/Schloss when CDC was there
TCU Student Coach in 2016
Arkansas Volunteer Coach in 2017
Tennessee, Hitting Coach/Recruiting Coordinator 2018-2022
Tennessee Associate HC/Recruiting Coordinator 2023-present
Born in Austin
Wife is from Round Rock

Yes, he is 33 years young, but the players love him and he apparently works his arse off in the batting cages and on the recruiting trail.. and he is very well thought of in the baseball community. If we could pair him with an elite Pitching Coach and Tulo as his Hitting Coach.. that may be a really good combination if we can be patient with him..

HC Elander
PC Frank Anderson TN - worked with Augie at TX from 2000-2003
AC Tulo
RC ??

If you can't land one of the big guns.. I like this idea a lot.. Frank & Tulo know how Austin works.. and they at least understand a little bit about how to deal with the expectations..

Give him 5 years and let's see what he can do.. He only makes like $150k right now.. so you could get him for potentially a really good deal..

maybe $3 million over 5 years with a lot of incentives..
