Yes, that is the sketchiest thing that Bama does. This who do you know is actually one scholarship and their refusal to publish it. Makes one think that those who are paying their"own way" are just getting checks from somewhere else.
However, here is the biggest problem with 1 year scholarships in my opinion. They don't work both ways. If an academic scholarship student decided a school wasn't right for him/her, he could take his bad-arse self to an equally great school with no loss of anything as long as the credits transferred.
With an athlete, a school can drop him after one year, but an athlete can't drop the school after one year and expect to be able to play at the same level without losing 1-2 years of eligibility depending on where they are transferring, That is total BS in my opinion. If a school hands out 1 year scholarships, then the athlete should be absolutely free to either accept the scholarship for the next year or leave without penalty. CFB is a GD serfdom at best.

Saban has found a way to manipulate the system and he's basically running a college-level NFL franchise before our very eyes. Hard Knocks should just set up shop at UA.
These poor kids are the victims and they are gonna be chewed up and spit out by "the process"
Saban is the devil. And the Bama fans are worshipping at his altar. You have his evil minions out doing his dirty deeds. (poisoning trees in his name and putting nuts on the innocents' faces in homage to him).
Enjoy hell you sick bastards.

All that link did was to prove that the top recruits want to play for a University that actually wins championships. It also shows that the rest of you get to fight over our sloppy seconds....which in reality means your team is teh suck.

Bama has consistently (and legally) operated on the edge of NCAA scholarship caps throughout Nick Saban's tenure

In Auburns defense,,,I don't think their staff has stayed around long to experience that opportunity.

Yo sarc those numbers might be a little off. I counted 70 scholarship players still on the bama roster as of today. That number didn't take into account any of the players signed last week
85(total on scholarship)-8(scholarship srs)= 77-3(declared for draft)=74
Bama wasn't at 85 scholarships last season which is why you get 74 instead of the 70 number you mentioned above.
quote:
74-4 (suspended indefenitly) =70+25(just signed)= 95.
Should be 70-4+25=91 assuming the 4 suspended players will be dismissed.

Ten over the 85 limit is a LITTLE MORE than two over. Let the "PROCESSING" begin
I then said that Bama has 4 redshirt seniors-to-be who have their degrees and will likely not return. Those players are currently on the roster. Subtracting them reduces the number to 87 which is 2 above the limit like I said.

On bama's rivals official team roster that was updated today there were 70 members of the football team that if you go back and check bama's last five signing class they signed official LOIs to play football at bama. It does not include the four players that were recently booted off the team.
That's where I get my #70.
the tide just signed 25 players last week. Down the bayou we know 70+25=95.
Where did your #70 come from?

Incorrect. They are all still on the roster because they haven't been booted yet.

And like I've said about 5 times now, 95 - 4 suspended - 4 RS seniors = 87 assuming those 8 players will not return next season.

My bad. I stand corrected, went back and checked the roster against those signing classes and the number comes out to 66 on scholarship not 70 as I originally stated. Sixtysix allready factors out the four suspended players being all the bama nation says they will never play for saban again.
Who are the four Srs that would be leaving with eligibility left?

We have had four volunteer thru thuggery to leave the program. We have three that have graduated and probably will decide to go on to the business world or graduate school and give up their redshirt year. We have two that have expressed an interest in transferring. More than likely Walker Jones, Barret's brother, will pay his own way if need be. Most likely won't have to.

We were supposed to be five players over the limit last year. Not sure how many left in the offseason, but we had room to award Carson Tinker a scholarship. I think a few are paying their way.

If the media and SEC offices protect you, might as well bend all the rules.
