Apparently the Super Bowl winning QB watched a photographer fall and decided to walk away and take a big ol' drink of water.

Stafford turns back on injured photographer

quote:

A photographer who was working in Los Angeles for the Rams Super Bowl parade on Wednesday apparently suffered a major injury after she fell off the stage near the end of the day's festivities.

The photographer was Kelly Smiley, and as the parade was coming to an end, it appears that Matthew Stafford and his wife, Kelly, asked Smiley to take a picture of them. In the live feed of the incident, which aired on Fox 11 in Los Angeles, Smiley was on the main stage and was attempting to take a cell phone picture of the Staffords and as that was happening, she took a few steps back, but didn't realize she was at the edge of the stage.

Smiley then fell off the stage as Kelly Stafford watched in horror while Matthew walked away. Based on video from the parade, the stage appears to be about 6-to-8 feet off the ground and it was high enough up that Smiley apparently suffered a pretty severe injury. In a post to Twitter on Wednesday night, the photographer wrote that she fractured her spine.

Smiley also wrote on Instagram that she had to stay overnight in the trauma center.

Although Smiley made it to the hospital after the fall, the Rams quarterback is being grilled on social media for not doing more to help her.

Just seeing this.
Come on, Stafford. Walking away? That's cold-hearted.
How many people would rush over to make sure she's okay or help? A lot.

Although the video shows Stafford turning around and walking away, it's impossible to know what he was thinking until he actually comments on the situation. He might have thought there was security at the bottom of the stage who could quickly help Smiley. That being said, the video itself definitely isn't a great look for the Rams QB.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Smiley pay for her medical expenses and for the camera equipment that broke during fall. In less than 10 hours, people have already donated more than $14,000 to the cause.

If his wife is as crazy as a lot of other women I know, then he was probably scared he’d end up in the hospital with her.

However, that is pretty shitty.

Talk about manufacturing drama, photographers hound the hell out of these people and their families.

I would just walk away as well.

Bad look is running 100 mph plus through city streets in vegas and killing a woman and her dog.

What should have he done? I doubt she was just laying there with no help. Terrible that it happened, hope she is ok but in that case an NFL quarterback may not be the best help.

I thought watching the video it wouldn't be that bad.

It's worse. He says "oh my god" then takes a pull on his water and walks away.

What a dick.

Well, right now the story is all over the place - sports outlets as well as major news sites.

I suggest you run over to them and tell them how dare they report on this story when something worse happened involving a different player months ago.

I had no idea reposting a news story would have everyone presume I was reporting it first to the world.

Go to check on her like a normal human being?

Stafford just has that Chinese "look away" mentality

Dude just ruined all the charm he gained by winning the SB after years of toiling in Detroit by walking away. What a dumbass.
