Would you rather take Clowney + a late round QB or Manziel + late round DE?

If you are the Texans would you:

Take Clowney and pair him with McCarron, Shaw, Murray, or Mettenberger.

OR

Take Manziel (or Bortles/Bridgewater) and draft a DE layer like Michael Sam, Dee Ford, Chris Smith, or Ed Stinson.

Take Clowney and pair him with JJ Watts.

Andrew Luck is in their division.

If I am the Texans and I have to choose between those two it would be Manziel (or Bortles or Bridgewater, prob Bridgewater) and a later DE

they need a starting QB

qb first over clowney, esp since they already have a pretty good defensive line ...

pretty sure they're gonna take bortles after his combine ...

Clowney is a Ryan Leaf waiting to happen.

Sam and Ford don't really fit into Crennel's 3-4. His OLBs have typically been huge from what I know

With Clowney it's only a matter of desire. I don't think Manziel can last in the NFL with his playing style no matter what. So I guess I take Clowney + later round QB.

That'd be typical of the texans, so yes.

What does that mean for Teddy Bridgewater. He didn't even run the 40.

I do believe Murray is a pretty good value pick. So I lean towards Clowney 1st in this dichotomy.

That said it has more to do with Murray late than Clowney first

Clowney and a late round QB. There are several good QB's who are going to be available in the 4th or later. There is no sure fire dominant NFL QB coming out (maybe Brotles is the closest to the mold/stats.) However, there is only 1 OLB or DE who is as good as Clowney and that's Clowney.

Geno or Akili Smith 2.0 or 3.0 take your pick

This is my line of thinking. Plus I don't think they need a superstar at QB to be successful.
