Tommy Rees would be a great fit at state. Hell of an offensive mind who's worked under two legends in Brian Kelly and Nick Saban.

I always thought Mullen would be a perfect fit @ Virginia Tech
If he wanted back in coaching - I agree - he could be the head coach at Blacksburg for many years to come.

Mullen is enjoying that buyout money and studio gig. He DGAF
He would make a good offensive coordinator if his ego would allow it. Leave the recruiting and other duties to the head coach.

I think Dan implied in so many ways that he thinks Starkville is trash

Dan Mullen would not even be welcome in hell.

I wonder if Mullen's ego would ever allow him to be an OC again.

I don’t think he has any desire to get back into college coaching. His kids are older now and I believe they travel with his son for a lot of junior golf tournaments (his wife is a former Golf Channel anchor, FWIW). I think he’s content to live on a lake, make good money doing TV a few months a year, and have a lot more free time.
To answer the question of would State take him back… I think opinions are mixed, some would say yes but probably a majority would be a no.

Depends on whether his wife still enjoys getting plowed by the young bucks. She may want him back in a target rich environment.

I think Gus Malzahn would get a call but not sure if he’d want to leave UCF, especially with them now in the Big 12.
Wommack and Sumrall could be guys in the mix. My gut says if it doesn’t work with Arnett, the reaction will be “he wasn’t ready for it” so the next guy would probably be someone with head coaching experience in some capacity. And they showed with Leach that they’re capable of landing a sitting P5 head coach (to a certain extent).
I think it would probably take 4-8 or worse for Arnett to only get one year. But, well, that could happen.

How attractive is that job in the NIL world?
No to Odom he isn't a good recruiter. NIL in recruiting /transfer portal at MSU aren't going to be that good due to lack of spending from boosters for NIL in recruiting and transfer portal. Still will be far behind in recruiting/transfer portal from most of the SEC team. This is what separates from top team from middle team and the bottom team. Most of time it is how much money is spent on NIL. That is the key. Missouri isn't going to win championship with medium to low NIL every year. That is why just try get someone who knows who will never win championship and just win 8 games a year on average.
