Yes, he’d go there for less money.

No, he wouldn't. I am able to seperate my fandom from reality, but Heupel has a $45 million buyout, which on top of Venebles $40 million dollar buyout...On top of that, Tennessee has enough assets to make the bidding extremely difficult to afford. Tennessee may have been living off the 1990s for the last 20 years or so, but they have a ton of resources that can match just about anyone.

It's one thing to return to a place you have coached at before, but name a coach (besides Bobby Petrino) that returned to a school that fired them? You can count them on one hand. It wasn't a situation where Heupel left to get HC experience. He had to catch on with Utah State and rebuild his career.

OU also doesn't have he recruiting advantages over Tennessee that you can sell at UGA.

wasn't Venables demoted to make room for one of Bob's brothers?

Haslem cash/NIL & Danny White AD who he's been in lock-step with since UCF - I don't see OU being able to offer that for him -

the sentimental aspect would be the biggest pull -

I think if the situation was right, yes. I dont think he would leave if he has a loaded Vols roster that he believes could win a championship.

Honestly I would be ok with it because I believe Chadwell is a better coach and he would return home to East Tennessee

Heupel still has family in Oklahoma. Mom and sister, I believe.

Sure, I bet he would make the move for a big raise and a 5 year guarantee.

If memory serves, his bad blood was with Bob Stoops, who is not really associated with OU anymore. Stoops just used Heupel as a scapegoat for his own coaching shortcomings and fired him off the staff. I think he’d go. Hell, it’s his alma mater. Who doesn’t want to win a title with their alma mater?

It is highly doubtful that he would leave UT anytime soon.

Yea, we’ve all heard that one before.

there's no guarantee a guy that's been a HC at a blue blood would have any interest in going back down to just being a coordinator

Yeah, but Venables strikes me as the type who would gladly focus on being a DC only again at a big power 5 school. Some guys like John Chavis figure it out sooner than others. Hey to Chip Kelly.

If that happens, we will go and get Alex Golesh.

We have seen what he can with an offense if you give him the talent.

I thought that was his dad, but I stand corrected.

Yeah I was thinking that once Jimmy Sexton makes a few phone calls who knows.
However, it appears from a quick google search that Sexton is not his agent.

sure that may be true, I was more so just pointing out that kirby can't simply hire a guy because he wants to. I'ts not as easy as "if veneables gets fired kirby will snatch him up"

During the Post Alabama game presser.

"To be honest, after we win the Georgia game this year, I am probably heading off to coach at Oklahoma" - Josh Heupel
