No, Cal wouldn’t take it and they would ‘t ask. UK plays Duke in Chicago so this is Cal’s last chance to beat him.

Interesting. That seems like a disastrous plan to be adamant about hiring a "Duke guy" when the list of DUke guys isn't impreesive, promoting a 33 year old coach from within for a top 3 job being even crazier.

The Duke Family Basketball tree is about as tight and incestuous as anything in modern sports.

Look at K's assistants the last 25 years

- Chris Carrawell (class 2000)
- Jon Scheyer (class of 2010)
- Nate James (class of 2001)
- Jeff Capel (class of 1997)
- Nolan Smith (class of 2011)
- Steve Wojciechowski (class of 1998)
- Chris Collins (class of 1996)
- Johnny Dawkins (class of 1986)
- David Henderson (class of 1986)
- Quin Snyder (class of 1989)
- Tommy Amaker (class of 1987)

As far as I can tell, the last assistant coach to work for Coach K that was not a Duke player for K was Tim O'Toole in 1997, and he came from Syracuse.

K is deciding who takes over for him and he is hiring one of his guys.

I think Duke will be Turn into a Vandy type job.

Coach K is Duke basketball. They don’t have good facilities. Next coach will fail

Agreed. They'll hire a Coach K former player and hope for the best. New coach is always a risk but if hes not successful they'll just hire a non duke guy in three years.

The man has absolutely zero interest in returning to the college game. He just shot down an offer with Indiana that would have made him the highest paid college coach. Of course I understand not wanting to work for Hoosier fans

For a long time Capel was tabbed as the guy to take over, I’m not shocked they’re staying in house.

Cal should retire from coaching whenever he’s ready or when UK just flat fires him. He’s be an idiot to take a college basketball job anywhere else. UK is probably the best job in the country
