No, the link were the people who where actually involved in the case said:

quote:

The case has generated publicity with the label "Iron Bowl killing" but the shooting had nothing to do with the game, Robbins previously said. "The outcome of that game had nothing to do with this case. Absolutely."

Just a suggestion, but you might want to rely more on the facts as they develop during an investigation instead of relying on the statements made by distraught family members immediately after a tragic event occurs.

Further down in same article

quote:

The victim's sister provided an account of what led to the shooting. Neketa Shepherd said her sister was an Alabama fan, but even more than Alabama, she loved The Miami Heat. After the game ended, she and her sister were joking around, not about Alabama's loss, but about the Miami Heat. Briskey, Neketa Shepherd said, apparently took their joking the wrong way and became mad that they weren't more upset over Alabama's loss.

Actually, I just remembered: I believe a drunk SC fan shot his drunk Clemson friend over a bet over the game.

2006

eta: The bet was for $20 and it doesn't actually say who they were actually fans of, just that they had taken opposite sides of the bet.

You're better than that NYC. That quote was recycled from the original articles about the shooting and was made by a family member of the victim. The later statements made by people involved in the investigation and the case (like the one I quoted) very strongly stated it wasn't over the game.

I used a quote from the same article you got your quote

quote:

The later statements made by people involved in the investigation

As opposed to someone who was at the scene when it went down?

I know you mentioned it but the LSU fans beating the Bama fan to death Saturday was pretty fricked up, especially because it was two on one.

“It wasn’t about football! They weren’t LSU fans!!!”

Bama fans in general are awful. No other fan base has the likes of the infamous Harvey Updyke, Michelle Pritchett, John Phillips or Brian Downing. It is a false equivalancy to claim that all schools have such fans. That is just not true. Hell, the abovementioned knuckleheads are bama royalty.....

But they're just trees remember? He's a hero? Dumbass Gumps.

Alabama fans literally kill each other over football, just like those trashy Raider fans. It's Alabama and everyone else is wayyyyyyyyyyyy below them.
