For real. 2007 was a crazy year. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had watching college football, and it was particularly awesome if you are an LSU fan.

Worst Teams by SRS to beat eventual national champions

1. 2014 Virginia Tech 6.72
2. 2016 Pitt 8.12
3. 1977 Ole Miss 8.49
4. 2007 Arkansas 8.91
5. 1990 Illinois 9.13
6. 2007 Kentucky 9.43
7. 1957 TCU 9.59
8. 2003 Cal 9.72

Based on these numbers, it's 2014 Virginia Tech. They went 7-6 and finished fifth in a weak ACC Coastal. 1977 Ole Miss is the only losing team in the list but teams didn't have as many rent-a-wins like they do today. The two "weak" teams on their nonconference schedule that year, Memphis and Southern Miss both ended up beating other SEC teams (Mississippi State 2x and Auburn). I would say their overall schedule was a good bit tougher than that 2014 Virginia Tech team.

ast Arkansas coach that ever concerned me going into a game
you just didn’t have Saban yet when nutt was here. Remember what y’all did to ole miss when he was there? I don’t think you were really concerned about him then
