The bye is real.
Auburn would be in the playoffs if you didn’t play in the Championship game!

The best 4 teams are not in the playoff. Auburn is clearly one of the best 4 teams but based on schedule differences between them and other schools they shouldn't be in (happens, sometimes you get brutal schedules sometimes you get a cakewalk). The committee needs to ditch the "We are looking for best 4 teams" phrase because their is no way people see anything but a big brand with 1 loss over a lesser brand with 2, 3 losses. Example being what happened with Ohio State and Alabama getting benefit of the doubt at the expense of Penn State, Auburn and to a higher degree a team like TCU/Baylor.

I'll use AU as an example since I'm a fan. But to me the commitee basically told me (if I'm AD) to schedule Boston College instead of Clemson and get that W instead of risking an L. It's promoting exactly what the commitee didn't want.

I advocate for a five team playoff.

Henceforth the 4 team BCS Playoff will be moving to a five team format. The fifth slot will be Alabama's permanent playoff spot. The other four teams can battle it out to find out who gets the privilege and honor of playing God's gift to football The Alabama Crimson Tide.

The new system will be called the Alabama Invitational. Best of luck to all the teams.

Addendum:

In the event that God's gift to football happens to lose the championship game. There will be a second followup game. Because everyone knows, no one beats The Alabama Crimson Tide. They only beat themselves.
