To me, if your fight song is iconic and memorable, even if annoying, like Rocky Top or Boomer Sooner, that’s a good thing.
Alabama might have the worst fight song of any of the blue bloods. It’s very bland with no catchy tune and the lyrics are outdated and focused on the Rose Bowl and schools no longer considered rivals. It tries to cram too many words into not a lot of rhythm and you end up with a routine little shake your pom pom jingle that feels more like a chore than a crowd pumper.
The Aggie War Hymn where they lock arms and literally rock the stadium yelling “saw varsity’s horns off” is pretty bad arse and would be my personal favorite even as a Bama grad.

two ways to go here - the worst arrangement - and the most repulsive/obnoxious -
worst arrangement - "Dynamite" - Vanderbilt - by a wide margin - it's a poverty tune as far as fight songs go - I imagine in the Music City alone: - Lipscomb has a better school song - TSU definitely does -
most obnoxious schools song - Rocky Top or Boomer Sooner - but they both achieve their intent - trigger & piss off the other team's fans -
Vandy should officially adopt Bumpadelic for their fight song - make half their 120 person band Sousas and just play the bass guitar hook -

We can blame Switzer for this non-stop Boomer Sooner. 1983 in Stillwater OKLA Aggies lead the Sooners 3-20 at the start of the 4th. Band Director won't leave the sidelines so the Aggie police kick him out of the stadium. As he leaves he tells the drum major to "play Boomer Sooner and don't stop", Sooners come back and kick a FG with 1:00 to win 21-20. Monday morning Switzer shows up at the band room with the game ball and presents to the director of bands and OU bands have not played a different pep song since, It's annoying but not as much as losing to Switzer.

Mississippi State's original fight song was an old French war song about meeting a big tittied bar maiden.

Probably because we played it all day long and took over your own stadium last time we met. How's Neyland West doing these days btw? Hopefully it's gotten a bit louder than before.

I hate Rocky Top because Tennessee, and because they play it 500,000 times a game. Actually it's a pretty good song, though. Boomer Sooner is far, far worse. It is ear poison that barely qualifies as a "song." And they somehow manage to play it about ten times as often as UT plays Rocky Top.

It should be. No one would know any other song for UT if they heard it. Most off the street UT fans probably don't recognize the other songs.

Boomer sooner is more annoying than Rocky Top. The Tennessee band at least has a bunch of other songs they play. The Oklahoma band just plays boomer sooner on repeat the entire game.
