I finally decided it was time for Eli to retire after hearing his call of 2nd and 26. It's like he had come up with something to say days before thinking we'd win after a victory formation kneel down but then applied it to one of the most memorable plays in the history of college football.
This. Eli should’ve been shuffled out after that. Every announcer dreams of a call like that and he rolled out some vanilla canned statement.

Who was the Alabama announcer from the 70's and early 80's? He was fine but he had a stoke and they brought him back. it was painful, and actually sad, hearing him call a game. He was so far behind the play after his stroke. -- Not saying he was the worst- but I felt sorry for him.

Scott Howard is terrible.
Back in the day most UGA fans would turn the volume off on the TV and listen to Munson on the radio. During the early days of corona in may of last year when there were no sports WSB would play old Georgia games on saturdays. Absolutely gave me chills to hear Munson on the call over the radio again.

Yet another WT alter?
Definitely an alter, but I don't think it's WT.

Andy Birchim is tough to listen to
Glad to know I’m not the only one to think this. I’m sure Andy is a great person but as a play by play announcer he’s terrible.

Mick Hubert. The "oh my" shtick is awful.

It's definitely not us. While Cawood Ledford was perhaps the greatest SEC radio man in history, some say it was Munson, both were incredible, but Tom Leach has done an incredible job taking over as the voice of the Wildcats. We're very blessed to have him.

I do not think he even expected to be doing this at this point in his life. I really think he is doing it to honor Bramblett. He even tries to emulate Rob with some of his calls. I appreciate the effort.

Can't hit a home run every time, but to go from Larry Munson to that clown show calling plays in Athens is about as bipolar as it gets.

I think a lot of that came from so many of them working year round calling baseball games. Really painting with their words.
I think it also came from them being so vital to their fan base. Now, people can watch every game on TV.

In this thread I learned all SEC fans hate their own radio announcers.

Not us. We loved Cristil but like our new guy too

I thought he did a great job for NASCAR, but is hard to follow with football. He will describe a play, but leaves off the yardage and down and distance. If you sync him with the ESPN app, he is tolerable.

Yeah, Eli Gold is annoying.

The Misstake baseball people get on my last nerve.
That said, our guy gets on my nerves, too, for one reason.
"(Opponent) back takes the handoff. He's across the 25 to the 42."
What? Where did 20 yards come from?
Meanwhile ...
"(Hogs) back takes the handoff. He's across the 25 to the 26."
Drives me up a wall.
