Surprised Arky fans haven't mention the play call in 1998 where they called they called the fumble-rooski with Clint Stoerner against UTK giving UTK the game and eventually the last challenge before their Natl Championship. That play was fricked up

With Hootie, there were so many bad calls to choose from each season that it's just hard to make up one's mind which was worse. Seriously.

...he was terrible...awful...

:siftsthrutonsofshittycallsfromcrowtonera:

you know what, im torn between the firts play from scrimmage against uga 08 and one of the last plays against ole miss in 09. middle screen with no timeouts that helped lead to clock management fiasco. uga 08... RS frosh qb comes out in 5 wide set and throws pick six. and then 3 years later we are afraid to throw it, basically.

Who runs a screen pass like that with 51 seconds left, in your own territory, and up by just 2 points? Mike Dubose was an IDIOT.

Richard Klein (who is the worst QB to ever put on an Auburn Tiger uniform).

If you're gonna bash em, at least get the name right.

It was Jeff Klein. Who is now a coach at Infinity Football Academy.

As for worst play call in a game I can remember: 2008 Auburn-Ole Miss. When Auburn was down with 30 seconds left in the Half, at the 50 yard line, and took a knee. That signaled to me that Tubs had given up on the season.

I personally liked the roll out pass play when we were in field goal range @ Ole Miss in '09. Jeffy boy took the sack...Then a hail mary to the one yard line. Then to top it allll off a nice spike to end it. I thought my head was going to explode

Porky - I remember watching that game thinking "why are they passing?" and "thank you for passing" simultaneously.

Last coaching job by Saban at LSU in a Bowl game on the last play. Iowa had to score a TD to win and Saban's great D let the tight end go right up the middle and no one covered him. Pass...TD.....Saban goes to Miami......worst D play ever....

Down 17-13 about 5 or 6 mins left in the game against OU in 2006. We have 2nd and G at the 2 yd line. Instead of handing the ball 3 times to our 6' 275 lb halfback (Jorvorskie Lane, who had something like 20 TDs that year), we run some BS playaction two plays in a row for incompletions, and then kick a FG and go on to lose 17-16. Dammit Franchione!!!

Worst Play Call In Your School's History?

Single worst offensive play-call:
Screen pass with less than 2 minutes to go up by 2 on the road against AU in '97. Pass was fumbled and AU recovered. Kicked FG. Won game. Mike DuBose was not wearing a headset (b/c Bear didn't, I presume) and had no clue that play was even being called. I was there. It sucked. AU students in the apartment complex by the stadium were shooting bottle rockets and throwing bear bottles into the crowd of Bama fans leaving the stadium. It was not a fun night.

Single worst defensive play-call:
4th & 19 at home against UT in 2006 (I believe...I've tried desperately to block it from my mind). We rushed 3 and dropped 8. We'd killed them bringing pressure all day. Clausen had an eternity to throw. UT converted. Won the game.

Single worst offensive playcaller:
Mike Shula. '03 - '07. Philosophy seemed to be "if at first you don't succeed, hand it to Darby up the middle two more times".

The play was snapped at 51 seconds and the ball was recovered by Auburn with 43 seconds left with just a few yards to go to get to field goal range.

I wish I could block it from MY mind. It was 2003 and I see the play in my head even now.

For LSU if this isn't IT,this is in the top 5. The 1994 Auburn game after Auburn had tied it up after being down 23-9 on two interception returns, somehow, someway LSU regrouped and kicked a fg to go up 26-23 and held Auburn.A tad over a minute left and Auburn is out of timeouts and on third down Lynn Amedee has Howard throw again and you know the rest.

Kudos to Auburn, but that was just stupid on LSU's part.

I happen to think it was the 2009 SECCG. The 4th quarter, Florida had just scored to bring them back within 2 of 3. We get the ball and proceed to throw it 30 yards to Julio in double coverage.
Now we had been running Glen Coffee for 4 to 5 yards a try up until that point. So of course we get 4 yards with Glen the next attempt and then JPW gets sacked on 3rd down and Tebow goes on and wins the game. I STILL believe if we could have driven at least a little on that possession we would have held on to that game, and possibly won against Oklahoma in the BCSNCG that year.

Reggie Herring might be terrible but I'll never forget him calling out Al Borges in 2005 (or 06?) before the game saying he had become the most predictable OC in the country...he went on to back up his words and obliterated our offense in spite of the bulletin board material.

I can't remember Auburn ever running a bad play. Well...on second thought, I can't remember who it was against but when Damon Duval was our P/PK, Tubby was playing pussy-ball (not to lose) and had Damon Duval run out of the back of the endzone instead of punting to protect the lead...we lost anyway. It might not have been the worst X's and O's playcall ever...but I think what it does to the psyche of the players, being on the retreat while the other team is on the attack...

Had to be '06. He was only interim head coach for one game...'08-Missouri...where he sucked dearly.

The '06 game is when Malzahn first was allowed to pull out the stops and implement the "wildcat", using McFadden at QB. That was part of the deal with that game.

But Herring had some good games as DC. I've seen a lot worse. It's just that he should have never been assigned to coach the Missouri game.
