If it wasn't for their yellowhammers, I would say Gallette's.

Roadhouse. Is terribly depressing. Good call. Used to go there in late 90s I think it was where cutters is now but moved. Went in there when I was picking up a to go pizza recently and they were blasting NWA. At like 530 in the afternoon.

Any college bar absolutely blows. Nothing is worse that being stuck in an overly loud dank smoke filled over crowed place without proper ventilation and a limited drink menu where Absolute is considered top shelf. If you are being honest there is legitimately only one reason ever grace such an establishment....the mighty vitamin P.

I've found one guy who has never been to Athens before.

Roadhouse is far from the worst in Athens. Good looking sorority girls abound most weekends, albeit cliqued up with certain frat groups that go there. Worst bar would be that hipster garbage on the West side of downtown (i.e. Max Canada, Caledonia or Little Kings). Personal worst is the Athens location of Church (from Atlanta). I get some people aren't into religion, but that's a bit antagonistic.
ETA: Roadhouse of the last 3 years or so. My understanding was that it was pure shite before that. Also think Nowhere Bar deserves a mention in the shittiest bars category.

Gallette's is (was) fun and awesome as a 21 year old junior in 2006 who liked to stay out until 5 AM when they kicked us out and pick up strange. Now, as a 30 year old married professional dude I can't imagine ever stepping foot in in again.

Last bama game I went to ('11 UT) I was walking from the neighborhood (around the 13th and 8th area) to the stadium and some house was selling yellowhammers out of a massive jug. All the fun, but no gallettes. Win.

What's the deal with bars on Cumberland? It's like none of them can stay open for more than a year or two. The UT bar scene seems to be lacking from this constant turnover of bars.

I find it hard to say there's a bad bar in Athens. The whole point of the Athens bar scene is for there to be something for everyone, even the insufferable overly antagonistic agnostics and hipsters. That said, I've been to one or two that were just stale (music was way too loud to hear anyone, drink selection was boring, and the scene wasn't all that exciting; like a high school house party in bar form)

I was a 21 year old junior in 2008, and still hated the place. It was the main Greek bar back then, not sure if it still is or not. I avoided that place like it was the plague.

Pretty sure it is much less of a staple now than it was then.
It was always the nightcap bar. Then, when I got to grad school we started going downtown because I stopped being a fan of gunky floors and the other disgusting things that come with being the late night bar.

Worst bar in Athens has gotta be Roadhouse.
It's in a townie location, but only appeals to the insanely redneck older crowd. Only good part about it is it's right next to Little Italy. Only time I've seen someone go in there is to buy some sniff sniff.
Heard it's a rough place.
