Yeah we ended up calling Roger per the recommendation and he was great. Agree best to arrange ahead of time. It was wild landing in the noon hour in that tiny airport with 5 other major flight arrivals. Thousands of people trying to solve the same problem at the same time.

I seriously doubt anyone is. My guess is the developer wanted it changed to the name of their $Billion investment that they are building for marketing purposes and used the offensiveness as an excuse.

They now have a bunch of baws from across the country talking about their new development that otherwise would have never heard of it.

This is right. What Bob Bass wants, he gets in FW. This was his ask.
AUPH would've been a winner, but I got greedy and turned it into a loser. Had a basis around $15/share. Should've sold at $34, but thought it was headed to $60.

re: Family Ski Trip Ideas

I went through this research last year, although my kids are much younger, and we knew they weren't going to appreciate a fancy trip. We landed on Steamboat and had a good trip. Pretty easy and affordable flights in, easy to get transport to the mountain, good bus system to get you around town. Overall a good value ski trip with fun skiing and activities at the base. I'd suggest you look into it and compare pricing to the other choices on your list. I found it to be 30-40% cheaper than the other options when factoring flights and hotel.

ETA: look at Vacasa website and specifically the Torian Plum. Great location and value in my opinion. Even cheaper as you go up the side of the mountain and Vacasa runs a fantastic shuttle service.
Maybe look at Red Rocks or Green Valley Ranch. Not too far from the strip, but much more enjoyable resort experience. You can cab down to the strip for a meal or two but otherwise have a relaxed atmosphere and better gambling odds/minimums.

We go a couple times a year with a group of work guys. Our consensus favorite spot is still Tao for what you’ve said you’re looking for.

ETA: The scenery there is also top notch, if you catch the drift.

Bowie House
Crescent (comes with access to very nice Canyon Ranch Spa)
Hotel Dryce
Drover

Anything downtown is pretty similar/forgettable, and typically reasonably priced unless there is a major convention in town. I'd stay at Crescent and be walkable to amazing bars and restaurants.
Sorry thought this was the 2025 thread
I'm writing this reply from a condo in Steamboat, on a family trip with a 4 and 3 year old. Torian Plum condos right at the base were great. Pool, etc.

HEED THIS ADVICE - WAIT UNTIL LATE SEASON TO GO. We froze, they were miserable. Ski school turned into daycare and they stayed inside the whole time due to temperatures. Wife and I both have the flu. It was not a great time for brining young kids. Book late March when it is much sunnier and warmer. The kids will enjoy it much more and have more opportunity to be outside.

ETA - also has direct flights from DFW which we booked for under $300/each. It is very easy to get in and out of.
Thanks for the responses. We booked with Roger. Private van and should be dependable. Car seats. $440 rather than $600. Seems to be best of an expensive proposition.
Thank you. Not huge savings, but $440 beats $600. Cheers!
Shuttles appear to be $60/pp each way from airport to ski area. Has anyone found a cheaper option? Taking 3 adults and 2 kids (both should be using car seats). Seems expensive to pay $600 to get to and from the airport 30 minutes away. Hoping someone here has solved this problem already.

Call Bunker Hunt

was my first thought... always enjoy vists there.
Yes I grew up hunting the area. Shongaloo has some good deer, especially along dorcheat creek, but they get a lot of pressure. Lots of hunters in the area. Maybe you’ve got a nice honey hole and it works out. Just try for a year and see. I’ve seen some nice bucks come out from around there and Leton. Even on public land.

I hunted more toward the east side of Springhill and it was pretty brutal to manage deer on less than 500 acres. If it had antlers it was getting shot at by neighbors. Couldn’t get shite going on our 80 acres. Now hunting east and central Texas, I laugh thinking about how hard I hunted Webster parish just to see spikes and does every third hunt. It was a beating but gave me patience.

re: The Fox panel is just awful

I just said this same thing to my wife. Back over to CNN. Would rather be watching Fox but that panel is miserable.

I’ve not been to Bluejack National, but hear good things. Hoping this development gets off the ground and is awesome.
That cotton bowl versus the Aggies was fun. TT had a great game. He was largely responsible for at least a couple wins, so that’s more than most who come through the program can say.
