If AU paid a counselor to get this kid into school then I will fall out laughing at that stupidity.

This sounds a lot like the MSU / Cam event - Other SEC school gets dirty with player - fixes grades junior year - kids decides that school sux and picks AU - now - said school gets mad and busts kid. If grades were fixed - he will never play a down for Auburn. If anyone for AU was involved they will be fired. So AU will need to load up on some top backs - look for big name commits coming our way in the coming weeks.

We already have a top back in Jordan Wilkins. We're presumably the leader for top back Greg Bryant, and in the top 2 for Derrick Green. All of these guys are top 150 prospects

Especially in another state. Especially in a place like Memphis, where we all know people like to tattle. I would be stunned if there is a paper trail. I don't think Auburn has anything to worry about, save a player who doesn't make grades.

Don't tell that to the numerous posters who think this will lead to AU's downfall in this thread

OK, how does petrino fit into this?

Some other sites are saying it is coming out not everyone got paid and this is how NCAA got word of what was going on, who didn't get their "slice"? Anybody here lnow what they are hinting at?

I really don't think another school had anything to do with this... this isn't some grand conspiracy.

Either the school/counselor fixed it themselves (for their own reasons) or Auburn was involved.

Trust me, I have a firm belief that Auburn isn't that stupid that they would do such a thing... but I've seen otherwise-smart people act stupidly before. So I don't place such a thing happening out of the realm of possibility.

Agreed, but it will hurt us. Lost a good back, plus may slow down recruiting.

After their great and stunning disappointment, re: le affaire de Cam, you didn't think they'd jump on this like a starving dog on a pork chop?

Yeah, Jovon was gonna be good. We have talent at RB though, and more coming in next year. And I doubt it will do anything to recruiting. The kid had grade issues, that won't affect other prospects that will qualify

In their defense, some people jumped on the TTown Menswear debacle like it was steak dinner in Ethiopia. I think it's universal to message board internet people, regardless of school affiliation.

no doubt you are right. i cant imagine anyone officially involved with the university (officials, coaches, etc..) would be involved with something like this so soon after the whole Cam business. nobody has that kind of hubris. the problem is and always has been that boosters sometimes have their own ideas about what is necessary, especially in memphis.

Doubt a Memphis booster had his grades changed, makes no sense.

AU has a very strong compliance department. I would be stunned if any trouble came to the AU program. I wouldn't be surprised to see the kid ruled ineligible and have to go juco or prep.

I asked a coach about it today and he said "trooper recruited him". I asked if he thought troop pushed the change he said "don't know. Either way no one expects trouble for AU over it"

That's my thoughts on it too.

i can imagine a scenario. yeldon had just flipped, the other back in the class was not going to qualify. I can see someone losing their mind, trying to help things along. not that i really think that happened, but you never know.
