Several females from UT started a federal case against UT athletic department saying the athletic department covered up several sexual assaults from the Manning days to as recently as this month. Latest news is that a former football player in a sworn deposition said Butch Jones called him a traitor, and other players beat him up after he tried to help a victim who was allegedly sexually assaulted by other football players.

It looks really bad for UT, but nothing has been decided one way or the other in actual court, but in the court of public opinion UT is already dangling from a high tree branch with a short rope around their neck.

Pretty accurate wrap up.

Somebody's lying in a big way but there's not one thing in the public view to give an accurate idea who.

I'm naturally suspicious of these type of suits because they're very often nothing more than an attempt to force a settlement and grab some cash so I tend to believe UT. If your natural tendency is to believe accusers, then you're going to believe the plaintiffs. Neither position is right or wrong because there's no evidence right now.

The only people wrong are those pronouncing the outcome before the case has even gone through the discovery phase.

The one thing I don't want to see is a sealed settlement that leaves all the questions unanswered. It needs to go through the judicial process and let the chips fall where they may.

In brief: not a damn thing. There's litigation that alleges a lot of bullshite with some truth sprinkled in and shitty PR but that's about it.

Rant take: ZOMG TN GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know the rant over does every thing... But we are talking a federal rape case and the MANNING name got this going. This isn't a speed bump, bud. If you thought the Mizzou hunger strike was bad... Wait til you see what's going to happen. I will bet my life that Hillary Clinton mentions UT in a speech next week. Butch jones is fired. Hart is fired. And a woman gets promoted as a coach of the football team.

It doesn't matter if the whole thing is made up, that's the way this country rolls now. I'm sorry, but this is not looking good at all for you guys. I don't want to see that happen to any team or university but there is a lot of smoke and the media is going to drive it into the ground.

You got about half your facts wrong. The former player testified in a grand jury proceeding but that testimony is sealed. His only statement to the press was that he wasn't assaulted and never mentioned being called a traitor. What you are referring to are the claims of the plaintiffs, not testimony from the player.

I don't know why people start threads that they know all about.

"Someone catch me up on the biggest story in the country. Haven't had a chance to get the scoop." Just use google?

So is Bowles in it for a cash payout from the plaintiffs? Because as far as the immediate future of Butch Jones and UT football, his statement is the most damning, yet he isn't a plaintiff.

Even if you subscribe to the theory that he made up the story that Jones told him he was a traitor (and thus committing perjury), why would he also make up the part about Jones calling back to apologize? That makes zero sense.

Just wait until the Department of Education files suit. Wouldn't be the first time.

There are rumors he was, is, or wants to be romantically involved with one of the plaintiffs.

Uh it reaffirms his story about Butch calling him out.
