Texas, even though terrible recently, has always had big goals. National prominence is what they stride for. aTm thinks small. They measure success, not by conference championships or national ranking, but by their results against Texas. Sad commentary, but true.

Whatever nugget of truth this once had was forever disproven on November 23, 2007. Even though A&M was at our lowest point in the last 50 years, we fired our coach who had just beaten Texas for the 2nd consecutive year between your 2 NC appearances at the peak of their program.

A&M hasn't measured ourselves by how we do against Texas for a very long time. Texas is and will always be a rival and competitor in many ways (we are the 2 Flagships in Texas and 90 miles apart) and we can't ignore them anymore than they can ignore us. That's not remotely the same thing though.

As has already been stated A&M isn't scared of Texas but we do know how they operate. We don't underestimate the lengths they will go to and how nefarious they can be. It is almost funny when folks here talk about the Birmingham Mafia or the like, they aren't remotely in the same league as what Texas does. Texas will ALWAYS find ways to stack the deck in their favor and they don't like fair fights. They have deeper media ties than anyone as well. They literally got the NCAA Infractions committee created with their own Law Prof to run it. You guys think in terms of football games played on the field, Texas looks a lot bigger than that.

A&M doesn't fear them now because we finally have enough money and power of our own. They also have cut themselves off from the other Texas schools by leaving the B12 so they can't rely on them for in state politics. When we left them to go to the SEC it also showed them they really better not frick with us anymore because we can hit back.

The actual football game was always fun. Really looking forward to beating their arse regularly again like we did when I was in school. Texas is trying to shine a turd right now. They have a LONG way to go to be ready for the SEC move and they don't have the coach, the talent, or the complete administrative commitment required to be a real force on the field in the SEC. Yet. Never, ever underestimate Texas.

Oh, and I still strongly believe the SEC as we know it won't exist within 10 years of Texas joining. A&M will be fine but I don't know that the same could be said for some others. ESPN runs the SEC now and not Birmingham and that has consequences.

I was auto admit for A&M and Texas like most folks as you know CGSC. Maybe 20% of kids who can get into A&M can't get into Texas.

I know a girl (correction, she was a girl but has now declared to be non binary) this year that got into Texas but not A&M as well though that's unusual. Only took 2 months at Texas before "they" had the epiphany this Fall.

Nah, seems like things are going just fine and they don't need the money. Just landed one of the very few players to ever have a 1.000 rating on 247. The last guy with that rating that went to Texas turned out pretty well in college.

In your letters to Santa, Mack and Sally, are you going to wish for a conference championship appearance in the next decade? Surely A&M won't go 3 straight decades without even finishing second place in conference, right? Right???
