Again, explain how they suck.

It probably sucks to watch UGA and Alabama in the playoffs while you are in Atlanta getting another loss.

Did you watch the Alabama/Uga playoff game?

I'm guessing you don't understand what happened there.

Your answers are geared towards someone using those stats as some sort of indictment of Gus. I'm not doing that. Nobody can be "expected" to win a bunch of games in which they are underdogs on the road to Top 10 teams. That's a very tough ask. But, it's the reality of the situation for Auburn this year.

No the answers are geared to showing you that those loses were against what most thought were superior teams. This was mainly due to the QB situation at AU.

Here is a stat that means little, but is valid in the minds of fans who throw out College stats to prove a point. How many games has Gus loss when his team was favored vs how many games has Saban lost when he was favored ?

It is almost like people saying Saban sucks against good teams on the road because of loses against:

USCe, LSU in 10
AU and Utah in 13
OSU,Ole Miss in 14
Clemson in 16
AU in 17

I believe they were favored in every one of those games.

No, knowing that we beat the shite out of both of them made the loss in Atlanta acceptable.

I think we get your point, but while it is tough to beat teams many think are better, if you want to win a Title you have to do that. Alabama beat Clemson and Georgia beat Oklahoma. Both were underdogs in the games. or at least were playing higher ranked teams. Georgia also played a higher ranked team in Auburn for the SECCG.

Is it tough? yes. Are losses against higher ranked teams a bit easier to take? Yes. But it is something you have to do.

Ok, so your point is Auburn will be viewed as a superior team to Alabama and Georgia this year?

Saban sucks

Why do you keep saying this? It's been repeated 3 times that nobody is saying these stats imply that "Gus sucks". Nobody is saying Gus sucks if he goes 11-2 and loses to Top 5-10 teams in Tuscaloosa/Athens.

The point of this thread is about Auburn winning the SEC. The counterpoint is that Auburn will have to win on the road against Top 5/10 teams twice to do that. That will be very very very hard, and Gus hasn't done yet in his tenure at Auburn. And he will have to do it twice.

In summary, losing games to Top 10 teams on the road would in no way shape or form mean Gus sucks. It would mean Auburn does not win the SEC.

And, on a seperate point

quote:

It is almost like people saying Saban sucks against good teams on the road because of loses against:

USCe, LSU in 10
AU and Utah in 13
OSU,Ole Miss in 14
Clemson in 16

No it isn't. Tally up the total scorecard for Saban away from BDS against good teams.

vs team that finished in the Top 15
2007 : 0-0
2008 : 1-2
2009 : 3-0
2010 : 2-1
2011 : 1-0
2012 : 3-0
2013 : 0-2
2014 : 1-1
2015 : 2-0
2016 : 4-1
2017 : 2-1

19-8 away from home vs Top 15 teams vs 1-11 away from home vs Top 15 teams (Gus' lone win is vs Missouri in the 2013 SECCG). That would be a dumb conclusion to come to. One has amongst the best records vs good teams away from home and one has amongst the worst records vs good teams away from home.

However, it would strengthen the case even more that Gus has an insanely difficult trek in front of him to win the SEC West this season. Because, even the best coaches with the best win percentages away from home against good teams lose those games 30% of the time.

Explain why he has loses in those games where his teams were considered to be superior (favored). You fail to explain that. Name me a loss where he was the underdog. How many games has Gus loss when he was favored ?
