Come on guys. He's right and you know it. Every school should remove all references to any former coaches or players. History is worthless and it does us no good to dwell on it. We should rename every stadium in the country "Generic Football Stadium" and stop living in the past. Who cares how many NC the coaches have won, or games they've won.

Hell, we should just stop keeping score too. Especially since wins are in the past and the past doesn't matter.

its not about history- every school has history its about the over 40 gumps who live in the past and provided entertainment for the rest of us. LSU had Pete Maravich- we named a facility after him but you do not see LSU fans building statues, worshiping him and playing his videos before every single game-

I admit it- I just don't get the over 40 gump fan who wants to poison trees and worship a coach who is no longer alive

Maybe it is just not for you to get. Maybe if Bear coached LSU for 25 seasons, brought them 6 national titles, absolutely owned Alabama and the rest of the SEC during that timeframe, you might "get it".

Heck, if the above happened, I have no doubts that LSU would have a statue up and play vids of the man before games. Harvey would have probably been an LSU fan as well. That's just how the world is...

Pete Maravich was at LSU for four years. Bear Bryant was at Bama a quarter of a century. We also don't build statues to our great former players.

I can understand why Bama worships the Bear the way they do. I never had the pleasure to watch him coach but I've read his books and I respect the hell out of him. It's hard to find people like him.

So did we ever come to a conclusion that we (bama fans) don't give saban the respect he deserves or we suck him off too much? IT can't be both, right?

Didn't Saban take a pay cut to go to Alabama???

He was being paid $5 mil a year at Miami, and his first contract had him being paid $4 mil by Bama. The Dolphin's owner loved him and had a good relationship with him; he led them to a winning season his first year, and then took the advice of his medical staff to not sign Drew Brees and take Culpepper instead; with no starting QB they went 6-10. The team still improved tremendously over where they were before he got there. He had the full confidence of ownership, if it was ALL about the money he would have stayed where he was instead of taking the pay cut.

Any person who thinks it was about money and not about missing the college game is stupid. He's even said that if the LSU job was available he probably would have gone back to it.

And the Bear would have been down with the hire, he was the right man for the job. Luckily we don't have a "legendary" coach putting his face in every hire, Stallings knows how to keep out of it other than giving recommendations.
