Spurrier was always a lazy recruiter.

That really is true. In his defense though, the world around him, and his job changed.

Florida kind of recruited itself. He didn't recruit as well as Bobby Bowden did, but it was good enough for him to consistently beat teams like the Tennessee and Georgia at the time who could only match, not exceed what Spurrier could get at Florida with his old school recruiting approach.

Richt changed a lot of things when Georgia hired him I think. More than anything else I think he messed up Fulmer's recruiting pipeline to Atlanta, and Fulmer never found a way to make up for it.

But you started to see even more population growth in Georgia, and Georgia and teams like Alabama hired recruiting machine coaches.

Just wasn't enough anymore. Then he went to South Carolina where unlike Florida, things like quality offensive lines don't take care of themselves with "normal" intensity of recruiting.

My two cents.

When we had good recruiters on the staff like Jay Graham, Shane Beamer and Brad Lawing, it made up for the fact that Spurrier wasn't big into recruiting.

It all changed when Graham was promised the recruiting coordinator job, but then had it pulled out from underneath him to give to Spurrier Jr. He left, then Lawing and Beamer left after that. After that a string of misses led to the disaster that was 2015.

Top 20 is average for us. (Twenty of less teams in the country can make that claim.)

Top 15 is good for us. (All but maybe ten teams in the country would be happy with a Top 15 class)

Top 10 is excellent for us. All but maybe three teams in the country would be giddy with a Top 10 class)

24/7 seems to disagree.

2008 - 35
2009 - 14
2010 - 34
2011 - 17
2012 - 15
2013 - 20
2014 - 19
2015 - 20
2016 - 25
2017 - 21

10 year Average - 22
Top 15 - twice in 10 years
Top 10 - 0

Don't be mad when someone labels a mediocre program as mediocre. Top 20 is obviously good for y'all, and nothing to be mad about.

muschamp is good at two things — recruiting and coaching defense. He’s literally bad at all the other things it takes to be a successful coach at this level.

So no... no one should be surprised usce is recruiting at a high level right now.

This ^

You can get the players. But can you coach them up?

Funny how 2008 and 2010 seemed to produce so many long term contributors to our program.

Some of the higher rated classes disn't seem to have many guys who played a lot of snaps at all.

You mean like the 3* OL that he recruited from middle of nowhere Wyoming that he turned into a 1st round DT? or a Walk On wide receiver that he asked to play TE that also went in the 1st?

He played like 10 snaps for Muschamp. Is he really touting turning him into a 1st rounder? He should get credit for finding him, but in all honesty Taven still isn’t developed, he lived off being quicker off the snap then the guards blocking him, Muschamp wasn’t with him long enough to turn him into anything, if anyone gets credit it’s Tavens Navy Seal father that turned him into a physically gifted work-out warrior freak.

#4 in the country for 2019 class, built quality depth on defense and playmakers on offense all across the board. UGA second game of the season will be electric at the Brice. Can still win the east win or lose because schedule very favorable.

Well...you are far a head of my team (Tennessee) so far with the '19 class. Here is a comparison:

#4 USCe 2019 Class Breakdown
5-star - 1
4-star - 4
3-star - 10

#21 Tennessee 2019 Class Breakdown
5-star - 1
4-star - 4
3-star - 3

Thank goodness Pruitt still has all of Butch's carry-over 3-star recruits to supplement this huge area of need. But, you are correct...3-star Will is tearing it up on the recruiting trail.

2010 had a great crop of SC kids that panned out for y'all, too. Lattimore, Cann, Hampton. I don't know why I didn't realize Shaw wasn't from SC; I thought he was from Columbia, but he turned out to be a huge cog in that wheel.

This appears to be a top 20 class by the time this is all said and done, which is good for over there.

You're a know nothing fricktard idiot. We've got nothing but four and five stars remaining on our board.

Gosh damn some of you mutts have become insufferable know-it-all recruiting snobs since Kirby took over. It's almost amazing to sit back and observe a few of you make fricktard asshat comments like, "This appears to be a top 20 class by the time this is all said and done, which is good for over there." I mean WTF is with some of these butt lickers all of the sudden?

lulz ... that kinda shite is unbelievable. "good for over there."

Muth-a-fricker that shite triggered me for some reason.

Here is a good example of a massive inferiority complex. I saw so much of this while living in Columbia.

It's simple math, when you have that many three star players already, it isn't likely to be a top five or ten class.

You've already got 10 3 stars out of 15 comittments ...there's almost no room for error if you want to get anywhere near a top 10 class which you won't BTW.

Wow,done deal then if you have 4 and 5 stars "on your board"

Seems obvious to me that South Carolina gets a lot out of their players, which is a good thing. You've had some excellent teams in the past, and if the talent keeps coming in should have some excellent teams in the near future.
