I think Cohen has his next coach already. Don't know who though. I'd be perfectly fine if it's Butch.

I'd love it. Been saying it since the big shots said no. Save money by promoting JG and go hire an elite pitching coach.

Why would Butch leave Auburn when he clearly can get players drafted high and compete for Omaha at Auburn?
The Auburn roster he has is very young and very talented.

Why would msu want to replace a coach that sent them to Omaha with one who didn’t go there?

Because Butch is younger, a Mississippi native, has coached at State has family here and would be a great fit for our program.

Because he was 1 run away from taking a historically horrible baseball school to Omaha.

Because you look at more than one half of a season when hiring a coach. Hiring Henderson would be really stupid. He had 8 years of mediocrity as a head coach. Some bats getting hot at the right time doesn't make him the best guy for the job.

The truth is no one actually knows what's going to happen. Although, I did hear Auburn cut the baseball budget by $200,000 to help pay for Gus Bus' salary

I don’t think it’s Butch. He’s just getting the program on a roll down at Auburn.
I don’t think we’ve offered any coach yet but the most serious discussion was with McDonnell and it’s pretty obvious he’s at Louisville until his kid graduates hs.

Well that settles it then. A poster on the rant said it so it must be true. He's from Mississippi. He grew up a huge State fan. He has family here. He's been in the program. It's a better program than where he's at. He would get paid a lot more. He would have better facilities. He would have better fan support.
I don't know if he will get offered the job, but it will be very hard for him to turn it down if he does.

Seems pretty clear he has his man, otherwise Godfrey would still be on the board. Him pulling his name out was basically confirmation of a hire.
Or at the very least, he decided his fallback options in Ming and Butch were ahead of Godfrey in the pecking order.
