Yea teams that live or die by the three usually either die by the three or win the tournament with zero close games. It’s a gamble but pure 3pt shooting teams have happened to get hit around tourney time and just blown through competition

Agreed but normally the teams that get hot in the tourney and start shooting well from 3 are the ones that advance.

In our run we were lightsout from 3, Nova last 2 national titles were won by hitting a huge amount of 3s.
(they hit 18 alone against Kansas)

I agree that the teams that rely on it go cold, but the teams that advance are the ones that go hot and start hitting them.

Absolutely. My point is, teams that can't adjust gameplans when shots aren't falling in that first weekend are the teams that get bounced early. If you're going to make a run you have to get hot, but early on you need something other than the three ball to rely on to get you past those teams you should beat. Usually, that's great guard play from guards that can drive the lane and create easy opportunities.

With their defensive issues, no chance imo

Defensive issues? Exactly what are you referring to? Our 3pt defence isn’t great but it isn’t that bad. The rest of our defence is pretty good IMO. The reason teams score a lot on us and we on them is because we shoot fast on possessions all the time and it gives a lot more shot opportunities for both teams

If LSU runs into a team that is shooting the 3 ball well then we are done. Just look at our loss to Arkansas.

I think if any team runs into a team that shoots over 50% from 3 and 59% from the field in a random game, that would become a problem very quickly

Not a big deal but there are some LSU fans here who really get offended by nothing.

Yea you thought I got offended by you earlier but I was responding to someone else. Sure LSU fans do it. But Kentucky did it after the LSU game. Tenn did it after the UK game. I think part of being a fan of sports is that there will always be people who are insecure when their team doesn’t do well or someone insults their team

Unless they shoot just as well.

And even when ya'll didn't (actually shot incredibly poor) you were still in it.

2 years ago no one gave a shite about LSU basketball. Threads like this are a testament to the excellent job he’s done.

we played UT shot 41 from the field and 61 from 3.
Hit 14 3s.

They beat us by 12 and it really wasn't all that close all game.

They have a lot of qualities of a good tourney team.

They rebound, they make their free throws, and they have great guard play with athletic bigs

They will be in every game but if they get a scrappy, experienced, lesser team and dont step on their throat when they get the chance they could be served in early exit

The draw will be important

Kenpom has your defense ranked in the mid 60s (points allowed per 100 possessions).

Nowhere near good enough to think about a final 4 run.

Lol what? I have never seen a statistic that says that one part of your game means you can or can’t make a final 4 run. Either way, our defense is consistently improving and it matters how we play in the tournament, not the overall average. Y’all put way too much stock in that Kenpom thing
