No, I've been there more times than I can count for various sporting events as I have close friends that graduated from LSU.
The city itself, outside of the campus, truly is a shithole. The only reason it doesn't seem as bad to native corndogs is because new orleans literally smells like sewage. Comparatively, BR isn't as bad.
