One fan doesn't cloud my judgment of an entire fanbase. Just because a Bama murdered someone over a game doesn't make me think the rest of the fanbase is that way. Just like your aledged UGA QT incident.

Since you decided to leave this out of your story...how did you know he was a georgia fan? I mean...if I saw some nondescript guy doing something bad in Alabama, should I guess he was an Auburn fan?

Look, I know that most of the books in Athens are coloring books or old copies of Highlights magazine, but shouldn't you have at least increased your literacy to the level that you can read a post on SEC Rant?

My original post contained the following information:

"And, yes, I know that the man was a Georgia fan and that he was upset about the game. He was decked out in Georgia gear as were his sons. I first noticed the situation because he was screaming "bitch, you wouldn't shut up so I could hear the end" or something similar at his wife"

What we need to see is if Kirby can manage a program that has the highest expectations year after year along with entitlement that goes along with that for some players. Nick has failed a time or two himself.

I agree 100%. Getting there is easier than staying there. That is what has been so outlandish about Alabama. What they have done has never been done before and probably will never be done again.

After a few mediocre seasons they'll probably run this coach out of town like the others.

Well crap. Auburn gave their coach a huge extension after a few mediocre seasons. How many losses are y'all averaging since 2013? 5?

Dear Penthouse,

quote:

If I had a way to track down a police report for the incident I would. If one of you has connections to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office or Douglas County Sheriff's office then have them pull assault reports for a 10 day period around November 2nd, 2002 that show Quiktrip as the incident location.

I don't remember if I was still in Fulton when I stopped for gas or if I was already in Douglas County. Quiktrips are pretty ubiquitous in the entire area, and I probably stopped at most of them at one time or another when I lived in the Atlanta area.

If you don't want to believe me then don't. Basically every single passionate fanbase has at least some history of fans becoming violent in response to the loss of an important rivalry game.

I went with an elderly relative to the 2007 Alabama-LSU game in Tuscaloosa. LSU scored twice in the waning minutes and pulled out a victory versus Bama. A drunk LSU fan was talking smack as we were exiting down the circular concourse, and an Alabama fan threw some kind of box at him and hit him in the head. I think it was some kind of cardboard box related to concessions as the LSU fan barely even noticed. He just drunkenly glanced around for a few seconds and then continued on walking while talking more shite to people passing by.

Ironically, I've actually rarely seen violence among Alabama fans or LSU fans, but I know it happens. I've definitely seen it occur in Auburn before.

What was notable about the Quiktrip incident is that this wasn't quick-tempered violence among rival fanbases outside of the stadium after a heated game. This was a Georgia fan attacking his own family after a loss.

Like I said, if you choose to label me a liar and disbelieve what I witnessed then that's your right. Your conclusion is wrong, but short of me being able to locate a police/incident report I fully realize no Georgia fan will believe me.

But people who've regularly interacted with your fanbase will. I'm sure Florida fans have witnessed plenty of things down in Jacksonville during the Cocktail Party. Georgia fans have a well-known history of being very thin-skinned and prone to violence.

Greene got sacked on 4th down with less than 10-15 seconds to go, and yet another promising season for UGA was ruined. But that's not why I remember that night -- I remember that night because I watched an angry Georgia fan try to strangle his wife in the Quiktrip parking lot, and then begin to throw haymakers at his pre-teen sons who were trying to protect their mother

I don't doubt that this happened. The real question is-- what's your point? You're suggesting this one incident is representative of an entire fan base. It's not. Can you list other incidents involving Georgia fans that prove a pattern? No. Georgia fans are no more or less "violent" than fans of other teams. Every fan base has its a-holes, Auburn included. If I judged you by your worst day, your worst act, that would be incredibly unfair.

For the record, the loss to Florida wrecked what could have been a perfect season. Georgia ended the year 13-1 and ranked #3 in the country. Auburn finished 9-4.

Probably not, but then again he is it blatantly cheating like Kirby is these days. Stories all over Atlanta about his dirty arse tricks. No program that has a lack of championship pedigree like UGA can rack up that many 5 star recruits without cheating their arse off

How do you know Kirby is cheating? How do you know Gus isn't cheating? Answer-- you don't know. What are these unproven "stories" you're talking about? If there was a lick of truth to them, Georgia would be under investigation at the very least.
Auburn won a national championship with a guy named Cam. You know his nickname, right? The stories swirling around that guy are legendary. Be careful about throwing rocks from your glass house.

That is going to become the rule, not the exception.

I swear the agents and overpaying is going to make for one hell of a bubble.

Bear Bryant made like what, 45k in the 70's?

That would still be less than two million a year today.

I mean hell, I read somewhere the buyout for BOOM is almost 20 million???

Insanity.

We should have all seen it coming, though, if you think about it. I mean with baseball and football contracts being what they are it was inevitable.

I agree.

But it is just so insane.

The Gus contract was ridiculous. But I think within a five years it will seem average.

Crazy, crazy times.

Yes. He'll get to another playoff, and when he finds himself up at the half, again, someone just needs to chloroform him so he doesn't do his 2nd half thing and blow it.

I remember when Alex Rodriguez signed his 10 year $250 Million contract. $25 Million a year! To play a sport!

If I had been a lot bigger, a lot faster and had a whole lot more talent I could have made a lot of money!
