wishful thinking probably. Most schools wont' see any difference the succeeding 3-4 years after when they play bama, but UGA is one that absolutely could/should feel better about the chances of winning in that world.

The point was, saying “but we played Bama close” is irrelevant and not really reflective of how your program as a whole is doing

Do what?Bama ROLLED through West last year. What was their average victory margin? 30 points? We were the only SEC team to give them a game. What they did to West was laughable.

You guys think you might score a point this year?

So they have just as much to brag about as Georgia does. Congrats again on YOUR nothing you are so proud of.

Without half their best players

it's funny you don't give AU credit for beating alabama that season when half their linebackers were injured (but returned to play us).

After checking your post history, I see you are a LSU fan. Try coming in higher than 3rd in your own division, then come talk about winning instead of losing.

How about we scored on Bama? is that more relevant?

Absolutely - I mean most should. There just seems to be this general narrative that somebody will "take that spot", and in reality it could happen with A&M, LSU or Georgia......but is also might just revert back to the early 2000s when there were 3-4 really good teams that kind of rotated through things.

You don't really know, which is kind of a cop out answer

Not hardly. We at least got a SEC Championship....over Auburn as a matter of fact.

ETA

So, tell us why a LSU fan is in this thread? Just wishing you can make it to the SECCG?

And yet we kicked your teeth in. So we can continue on with circular reasoning all you want but the fact remains, you lost to Bama and LSU. It’s irrelevant if you scored on them and we didn’t.

I think objectively it would seem likely that UGA would take that spot, based on what we all know of the last several seasons. Bama wandered in the wilderness a bit after Bryant and then again after stallings. I don't think it's crazy to suggest a similar dropoff after saban.

Yeah, all you need to do is remember that Mike Dubose managed to win 10 games, capping it off with a crushing defeat of Spurrier in the SECCG.

The fact that Dubose won only 3 games the following season only makes the argument stronger that a complete dumbass can take the talent that Bama pulls in (for argument's sake, I'll skate around any discussion of why that is) and have a 10 win season.

Also see Fran's 2002 10 win season featuring a 31-0 spanking of Saban in Baton Rouge.

Idiot coaches don't win 10 games at most schools but they certainly can and have (many times) at Bama.

That’s true. LSU will never win the conference again because they can’t best UF, Bama or Tamu

An SEC title, which LSU hasn't had in 8 years? Or a rose bowl win and playoff appearnace, which LSU has never made?

Yeah, I'd say it means something. Let us know the next (or first, I should say) time orgeron loses less than 3 times in a season.

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll go find the Saban-era version of this

Seems like we still played in the SECCG...and LSU finished 3rd in their division. Good job! Moral victory! You played well against Georgia but couldn't score on your daddy.

And compared to what's going on currently bama only winning 10 games would be delightful.

Well...we won something. When was the last time LSU won anything? 2011?

Congrats. now go tell everybody how arrogant Georgia posters are because we defended our team against you and picked on you.

And you lost to the 3rd place team in East.

So how many points are you shooting for vs Bama this year?
