You know......it is possible that Alabama doesn't turn into South Carolina once Saban leaves and actually, I dunno, keeps being pretty good.

Crazy I know, just food for thought as we discuss the post-Saban world where Alabama apparently ceases to exist.

of course theyr'e not, but you're also naive to think they won't drop off even slightly after losing the best coach in the history of organized collegiate football. They'll still be very good but it's to be seen if they can still recruit a top 2 class every year and keep the same focus that saban demands.

Kirby winning an NC seems far more likely than Auburn winning the SEC.

we've played LSU exactly once with kirby and lost. -we've played bama closer than anyone except clemson the last 2 years. And we can actually score on them occasionally, which LSu clearly has trouble with -Texas beat us by 7 in a game we didn't care about with our 2 best defenders out

You know what I see there? I see a shite load of losses.

The point was, saying “but we played Bama close” is irrelevant and not really reflective of how your program as a whole is doing. Keep in mind that Ole Miss BEAT them two times in a row not long ago and Auburn BEAT them recently.

You’d garner more respect if you’d stop cherry picking meaningless shite to try and inflate your team.

Absolutely will drop off, but most discussions about the post-Saban world on this board literally don't even include Alabama, which is a little goofy.

It's okay man. CNN will solve the CLIMATE CRISIS and Alabama will be saved.

Maybe, but my guess is that Bama hires some savant that nobody else recognized and keeps rolling. That seems to be the way the world works in CFB.

Or they'll decide they don't need us anyone and just X us off with a sharpie.

It's a delicate time.

Considering one of the games where we played them close was for an NC (and the other a playoff spot)...I’d say it’s more reflective than some meaningless loss to LSU or Texas.

UGA, as a program, is as close to winning an NC as any team in the conference not named Bama.

Maybe if we gave Kirby a $49 million extension? Surely that would get him one, right?

Auburn has actually beaten Bama recently.

Stop pretending that Kirby Smart is some kind of great coach.

Congrats. And that got them absolutely nothing.

At least we've been to the playoffs.

Meaningless stat since you basically were given the OSU path to the playoffs.

I can't even fathom an Alabama without Nick Saban. Y'all will still be Alabama, no doubt, but I'm just so used to Saban's machine in Tuscaloosa that I'm not quite sure what the world will look like when he's gone.

it's absolutely relevant to the discussion at hand. The big hurdle for every program in america to winning a title is bama, it's been that way for 10 years. Most schools, LSU included, haven't come remotely close to beating bama most of the time. UGA, in our 2 years of data, have proven that they can go down to the wire with bama. We are on just about equal footing with them, which over 100 other pgorams can't say.

quote:

Keep in mind that Ole Miss BEAT them two times in a row

while cheating their arse off and it led to nothign important besides sanctions and coach firing

quote:

Auburn BEAT them recently.

and it also got them nothing

And both of those schools have also been beat to smithereens by saban during their tenures as well, which you fail to mention.

This whole time I've been talking about UGA vs alabama. You're the one bringing up texas and LSU. Who is cherry picking?
