short answer is no. Not because of being enamored with the guy, it's about owing a king's ransom to him.

It will be good to come back to this thread in 4 weeks. I think each of their next 4 beat them by 14+ each. Scar wins but in a close one

A&M can fire him whenever for cause without paying him a dime.
All the hubbub this offseason about pay-for-play allegations may end up being the golden ticket that let's A&M terminate his contract without owing a dime.
Thanks SlicedBread!

They. Can’t. Fire. Him. Because. They. Can’t. Afford. It.
Repeat that a few times and then stop askinf

Franchione probably thought his secret newsletter was fine. And it was, until he got throttled by…you guess it…Miami.

The anti-A&M propaganda machine on the internet is a strage testiment to the obsession of our rivals.
But it will be such sweet irony if it ends up giving us the "out" we need to cut our failing albatross loose without paying the massive buyout.

They are stuck with him for 6 more years congrats Aggies.

Jimbo Fisher = Gus Malzahn. He was good 10 years ago, but of course was playing against weaker competition in the ACC. He hit the perfect QB for his system and won a NC against Gus. He has an outdated offense and relies on his DC to stay in games. He occasionally gets his team up to beat Alabama, but at the end of the day he takes elite talent and turns it into 8-4.
Only difference is Gus is now coaching a G5 school while Jimbo will be collecting Saban type money from A&M for the next several years.

Why in the world would they? Everyone on the planet except A&M fans knew it was a stupid contract especially coming off of a 5-7 season. End of the season is a different deal altogether. We’ve all made costly mistakes but it’s a sunk cost at this point and they would have to find a really up and comer but would they still have to pay $7.5mm since they set the bar.

No. But there are calls being made to raise the money to buy him out. We will see what the fans think soon enough. Haven't seen this since Sumlin was supposedly untouchable

I don’t know how to break this to you, but they will not be able to use the tiff with Saban this summer as cause to fire Jimbo. It will be very easy for him to make the argument that such an attempt is just a pretense to avoid the payout, especially since Bjork defended Fisher at the time.
Now if they are able to pull some further dirt connected to the incident or something else comes out of the woodwork, things may be different, but I’d still expect a negotiated settlement at that point.
Y’all have my deepest sympathies, I understand what it is like to have an AD make boneheaded decision after boneheaded decision.

No.
They owe him $90 million dollars.
That is just the tip of the iceberg. His coordinators and other coaches also have "steak and a blowjob" contracts. Sure he's the biggest payout but I would not be surprised if the total to get rid of everyone would be over 100 million dollars.

f he loses to Miami the wheels are going to come off that program the next few weeks.
Their next 3 are at Arlington with Upig, at MSU, and at Bama, if they don't get past Miami it will get ugly real quick.
They have to have a quick hook on the HC in the age of transfers this could set them back a decade.

Doesn't matter if Aggy fires him. Anybody they hire is destined to the same fate. Aggy will go get their "Albatross", then kill it - condemning them to more failure.

So on the one hand, you owe him $90M, and on the other, you don’t owe him a dime, but your school admits it engaged in pay-for-play.
Yikes. Who is calling the shots over there? Someone who hates your school it would appear.
