I think any rational person would have to doubt that seriously because of the situation at UF right now. 3 different offenses in three years is going to be tough to overcome.

I wouldn't bet on it even in a down east again.

ETA: LOL at you for thinking a troll thread deserved serious answers. I gave you one because you were sort of nice about it.

We will have better receivers, a better line, and Mason will have time to get better. Will he be as good? Probably not. I don't expect a huge step back though.

I upvoted b/c you provided feedback to the original question.

Will South Carolina ever win the SEC in general?

Or will it be between Missouri, UGA, UF, LSU, Auburn, and Alabama again?

You guys have never won the SEC, and I just don't see it ever happening.

Why not just try to answer the OP? Do you think UF will contend for the East next year, if so why?

Tell us why SC will. The only playmaker you will have is Mike Davis and you can thank GA for letting you have him.

Is the East really down? We had 2 teams in the Final Top 5 and 3 in the Top 25. They just weren't the ones historically there.

That whole SECe is down perspective is pretty crazy to me. It's like saying the SECe was down from 98-99 b/c USC wasn't ranked. There are still the normal number of teams ranked in the Top 25 for the SECe as in years past, just different teams?

When was the last time 2 of UGA UF and/or UT finished in the Top 5 and the other in the Top 25? Has the SECe been down since then?

100% agree...never understand why the SECw continues to beat its chest. The east swapped some traditional powerhouses and the west did nothing of any real accomplishment.

A lot to me with Florida hinges on their new OC from Duke. That stuff can work wonders if he's the right fit. Although getting healthy was main factor in Mizzou's vastly increased offensive production this year, the tweaked system installed by our new OC was also a major, major part of it.

Because it's ridiculously stupid. Like asking is bama can compete in the west next year.

UF has been a little down, but has plenty of reason for optimism. UGA has been playing at a high level the last 3 years when not gutted by injries. Of course both teams can "challenge" in the east.

We've answered it several times. How many more times can we say "yes, we will contend for the SECE? That's all CNB asked.

I understand that, that OC did great things at Duke, UF's talent is on another level, he could do much more, but will he.

Took em 18 years just to win the east. At this rate we'll have flying cars the next time they contend for the SEC.

That's not a good example. Bama went 11-2 this year and was one game away from the SECCG. UF went 4-9. Bama would be expected to compete next year based off of what they did this year and recruiting success. UF has recruiting success, but had a bad year on the field.

That's correct, but your OP (which we're all supposed to be still talking about) said Florida or uga.

We are still riddled with talent, just need some semblance of offense. Our D will still be stout. However, it's unknown how much we'll improve.

uga however has played very well the past few years, despite what their record was last year. Anyone with a brain can see what they did prior to knoxville, including beating SC by double digits lest you forget.

Will uga win the east? Who the hell knows? I hope not! But will they "challenge for the east"? Well, sure, why not. "Challenge" could mean be in contention for it in November. What the hell are your parameters here.

UGA and UF can compete for the East on any given year. They're consistently two of the most talented teams in the country.

Auburn went 3-9 last year. Now look where they are.

Even with CTG running the show on the Defense that young defense can only get better. We did not have that bad of a run defense and were second in the SEC in sacks. Hutson Mason will be just fine. Once Bobo opened up the playbook and let him pass in the 2nd half of the bowl game he looked very different. Yes injuries happen but the amount, types and to who they happened to was not normal. I really don't expect the offense to drop off much if any with all the weapons still in Athens.

to answer the OP yes UGA will challenge for the East not just in the future but in 2014.

Depends on how you do in the spring.

I see UF, Mizzou being the main East contenders again. UGA will continue to underwhelm and USC and UT will be rebuilding.

SC's best year ever consists of the largest margin of defeat in any SEC championship game.

So, congrats I guess.

Oh and 41-30

I pray we'll see an improved UF team, but I'm not going into next year expecting titles.

I love all the 41-30 comments...the three years we spanked that arse put a hole in the uga faithful's memory that was so deep... all they can say is 41-30... 41-30.... can't even use a original schtick have to borrow lsu's answer when dealing with competition.

Hold it tight dawgs... Sept in Columbia will be here soon.
