Well, if we run a similar offense to the Pats....I don't see many NFL defenses with a 'lock' on stopping Brady & Co.

Scout is still worse for national recruiting rankings.

No Arky fan could seriously sit here and say their 2011 class looks as good or better than their 2009 class, especially when you factor in Mallett for 2009.

Yep. Rivals is worth about as much as Nutts 1998 Western Championship ring is worth to Nutt.

They all suck.

If they were worth a frick, they'd be on a college coaching staff some place making 10x's what they are making now.

If we want to be honest about it all.

I still like that Ridley was drafted before Mallett

I'd say they're way more right than wrong. The best/most consistent teams in college have been the ones towards the top of these recruiting rankings.

BOOBY coached RM up! That's why high school QBs are flocking to Arkansas.

Belechik is as smart as they come. Mallet is a high risk/reward type. A gamble if you will..

Of course it wasn't star wise but it was still good. Top 25 is about all I expect from an Arkansas coach and he has hit that in three of four years. Like I said, we never were and never will be an elite recruiting school. Our location is always going to be a hindrance in the SEC.

Petrino and staff go after the elite guys but also know what guys they want if they strike out on the starzzz. Our team is bigger and faster than it has ever been before in the past which is a huge plus for me.

You guys realize these stars you so love are assigned by these middle age men sitting in a cubicle over here in Brentwood, TN right? Most, if not all, have never played or coached a down of college football. I could start my own blog and assign stars based on my personal opinion and it would be just as relevant as Rivals.

Like I said before, the coaches put more Hogs on the preseason All SEC team than any of your top rated recruiting classes. There really is nothing more to be said. Arkansas's talent level is right up there with anyone in this conference.

Maybe, in years past.

Rivals is so low on help right now it is a disgrace. Scout is about the only consistent site as far as employees go. 247 is a thrown together mess of people who left rivals.

Scouting services can continue to rank Arkansas where ever they feel need. As long as I keep seeing 6'3" 240-255lb LBs show up on campus who are strong, fast, and certainly pass the eye test, I will be happy as all get out. They can be rated 0*'s for all I care. If they help us get to 10 wins or more and a BCS bowl, I am a happy camper.

Yeah, no. Once again look at the best most consistent CFB teams recently and check their recruiting. They're pretty much all up there.

I've seen this one too many times, it's because Arkansas returns a ton. PRe-season lists go on experience more than anything and that's something Arkansas returns more of than most teams in the SEC. Post-season lists are way, way more indicative of talent after the course of a year. Of course in general they won't put a talented newcomer over a productive 2-3 year starter on a pre-season list.

I think the depth still isn't there, but that's the biggest difference in say LSU/Bama/etc and an Arkansas. Some quality starters for sure, not as much quality depth as those teams who recruit better though. I also think Arkansas' defensive talent just doesnt compare all-around with those elite schools, hence why Arkansas generally hasn't been a defensive powerhouse.

It's cause you have to have talent on the defensive side of the ball. To be elite. Period.
The one-trick pony has worked with 3 stars on offense. So far anyways.

Would you consider LSU a one trick pony as they are only good on defense?

Simple Y or N will suffice.

Then, how do you account for Arkansas moving from one of the worst rated D's in the SEC to one of the Top 5 in 2010?

Conversely, LSU was at or near dead last in overall Offense.

You can't say Arkansas has shite D and proclaim LSU to be Two Tricks...
