Coaching and facilities help no doubt. But, from everything I've seen proximity to a kid's home is a larger factor. So the fact is there are not a whole of 5* players that close to Fayetteville.

Petrino coaches our plethora of 5.7's up to 5.8 while Alabama rivals guys just bitch and moan in order to get their 5.7's up to 5.8.

Lay off.....back in 1982 when Arky last made the top 10 they didn't have any 5 stars,...proof you don't need em to be elite.

I realize you guys jerk off to top recruiting rankings but Arkansas never has and never will be an elite recruiting school. With the recruiting base we have it isn't ever going to happen.
So far 3 of Petrino's first 4 recruiting classes have been top 25 which is serviceable if you ask me. With a team stocked with 90% his players recruiting classes we are a preseason top 15 team. I would say if he can just keep getting top 25 classes then we will be fine.

Go to Bama a 5* and leave a 3* or 4*.

The 2009 class looks much better. I don't pay attention to scout's rankings. According to rivals...
2009 - #16 nationally, 1 5-star, 8 4-stars...not counting Mallett who might as well be a part of that class and another 5-star
2010 - #49 nationally, 3 4-stars
2011 - #24 nationally, 4 4-stars
And 2012 is not looking good right now.
