Signs of a dead program:
1) Claiming moral victories

Don't have to go that far back to claim an actual victory. Last year keeps coming up because where the two teams were at that point of the season. Either Saban is really slipping or Harsin is a much better coach than most think.

...or we just weren't a very good team. Saban can only do so much. He can't make them do the extra work that's needed.

Auburn’s last win over Georgia in Athens was in 2005

Since last win in Athens, Auburn is 3-14 vs UGA. Auburn will never be able to consistently compete with UGA again.

Auburn should’ve won last year; if Bigsby stays in bounds, I don’t think we ‘d have had time to pull it off. No knock on Bigsby, he was just trying to make a play…
As for the season, I thought that was one of Saban’s best coaching jobs. We’d lost every skill position starter on offense from the year before (3 of them the best at their position), in addition to the best OT and best center. On D, we lost the best CB and our two best DL. Bryce Young was sacked 39 times (the only game he wasn’t sacked was in the SECCG). We struggled against Florida, A&M, LSU, Arkansas, and Auburn. Before that convincing win over UGA in the SECCG, most of the talking heads had Bama missing the CFP. Yet we made the CFPCG, had the lead in the 4th quarter, but UGA was too much for us in the end…
This year, we’re loaded, with the exception of our OL; if it’s just above average, we could have a special year. Next year though, I think the West will be wide open. We’ll lose all our skill players after this season, many of our defensive studs, and will be looking at more of a rebuilding year; we’ll have talent, but not so much experience or leadership at key positions in 2023…
