I think this is a good take by a non-AU person
I'm not sure we're burned out really, but I think some other teams are playing at a higher level right now. But not many, and not by that much.
So Auburn could miss them entirely, could surge itself, could win a basically 50-50 game when it matters, etc. I don't think we'll win the title just because I'd take the field against any team, but I think our shot is realistic.

I don't believe that Auburn is "burned-out." They are 18-22 year old young elite athletes who are extremely competitive. They will have had 5 days rest. The guys that were on the team last year probably still have a bad taste in their mouths, and I can't see them flopping again this year. I feel like Broome will be on a mission. That doesn't mean they'll win it all, but they aren't going to get beat by some cinderella upper seed team, and I think they'll at least make it to the elite 8.

I think you just described what makes the tournament great for every team.
For some reason (at least as long as I can remember), Alabama loves to run across that scrappy Cinderella that scores some upsets, ruins everyone's bracket, and then ultimately gets blown out once their magic fades.
So many good teams that got snake-bit along the way.
But I guess that's what keeps it exciting.

I don't think everyone is counting them out, they're #3 behind Duke and UF right now in the ESPN bracket contest thingy. Just like UF, they could win it all or lose in round 2. It's called March Madness for a reason.
