Auburn was a Top 3 power in the South from about 1897 through around 1919.

We were again a Top 3 power in the South from the mid 1950s through about 1963.

We were again a Top 3 power in the South through most of the 1980s

We had undefeated seasons in 1993, 2004, and won a national title in 2010. Played for another title in 2013. Were ranked #2 in the Playoff rankings going into the 2017 SEC title game.

Yes, despite 5 down years, we will absolutely be relevant again. History shows we will.

1919 to 1950 is 31 years
1963 to 1981 is 18 years
2019 to now is 7 years.

So yes, history tells us you have 11-24 years more of irrelevance left before you are a power in the south again.

Was Auburn ever relevant besides a decent season here and there?

Nebraska was great when the triple option was still being used and they were way ahead of PED’s at the time.

Steroids and Prop 48 super thugs. As soon as partial qualifiers went away, Nebraska went away. Same thing that happened to Tennessee.

I think they'll return to relevance in the next few years. One decent coaching hire will accomplish that. Winning a national or SEC championship, depends on how much money they have.

Here is a little history. In the last 100 seasons, Auburn had a winning season 65% of the time. Alabama, despite Ears Whitworth, Mike Dubose and Mike Shula, had a winning season 90% of the time. Seven of Alabama’s ten losing seasons over the last one hundred years came under those three.

By comparison, every Auburn coach except Gus had at least one losing season. Shug Jordan, who Auburn named their stadium after, had more losing seasons (3) than Bear Bryant, Ray Perkins, Bill Curry, Gene Stallings, Dennis Francione, Nick Saban and Kalen Deboer combined (1).

They are the most corrupt, cheating arse program in the history of football, they won’t stay down forever

Fair question and I really don't know. Scary times on the plains. 5 or so more years of this and it could be a dead brand.

I must have been asleep when they were relevant. Sorry. You’ll have to let me know what I missed.

7-6, 8-5 (x3) 6-4 in 10 games, 9-4, 9-4

So much to love in his 8 seasons.

From 1951-2020 we had 7 coaches. 5 of them won national championships and a sixth was :13 seconds away from doing so.

I have never coached a college football team and I have won 6 national championships. I can go made up national championship to made up national championship with you.

Exactly. He also went 12-2 and 10-4 and won a share of 2 SEC west titles in 8 seasons.

That is much better than 6-7, 5-7, 6-7, 5-7, 3-4.

Worst part about the admin claiming those championships is people automatically thought we were just like Bama to do so.

Bama is too unclean to have their company.

Yet I am still happy to fire Gus. Would do it again.

So he was decent 25% of his time here and lost less than 4 games 13% of his time here.

Bama should not let him slip away.
