Well the knee jerk reaction is a simple NO.

Then again this is college football so who knows.

I honestly think that ole miss can. They have a good defense and can score quickly from anywhere on the field.

Hopefully, they will beat themselves.

Repeatedly.

Typical overreaction to one week. It's a long season. Teams get better. Match-ups change week to week. Injuries happen. Ball bounces funny some Saturdays.

It's still much more likely than not that Alabama loses this season.

We beat y'all last year because our secondary didn't fricking suck. The WR/DB matchups this year while we are on defense are going to be abysmal for us

but Alabama looked untouchable against a pretty decent team.
they sure were talented. They are second only to alabama and tied with ohio state for the percentage of the team that are blue chip recruits (4 star or better), at 70% (bama is at 77%, a staggering number). And they are up to 82 players on scholarship so the sanctions excuse is nearly played out. they played well on defense until our oline adjusted to what they were doing with the blitzes and their offense played well till they got past the opening script. Once we punched them in the mouth they folded like a chair. Nor every team will be so mentally weak, but we also will not play another team with as much talent as them until the playoffs, so overall im pleased. Our defense is going to be the best we have had under saban, best dline, best olbs, best mlbs, best safety, 2 of the best corners. Only player that looked anything like a liability was averett, who is the fastest player on the team, former 4 star and a track athlete, who should improve with reps. On offense i was really pleased with how the online played after the first quarter, you could see them get better with every snap. Recievers are so deep. If you focus on ridley we have 4 or 5 other guys who can beat you. Im feeling great about the RBs. Damien Harris looks to be one of the most improved players in the country, and run blocking is only going to get better as the line plays together. Im comfortable with either of the 2 young qbs. Hurts brings better running, barnett looks to be the better and more accurate arm. Hurts 2 bug passes were to wide open players, barnett made an incredible pass to howard and hit dietre perfecrly in stride. Hurts seemed the more composed player, but he also played as the ol figured things out. Barnett was under immediate pressure from blitzes every play of his firsr 2 drives.

I think we're getting too much credit. Our offense was anemic in the first quarter and a half and they basically gifted us 3 TDs. I just don't think USC is remotely good this year.

I agree.

It really all depends on how well our offense can gel and have an identity. Jalen Hurts is a true freshman and is bound to make some mistakes along the way. We don't know about our running game yet.
If our offense can be as good or better than last year, especially at critical moments, then we'll go all the way.
Our defense is ridiculously good. Possibly better than last year. Without a doubt Saban's fastest college defense ever.
