The validity of that quote was shot down but not until it had spread all over the interwebz

That was not an accurate quote but he still said something very similar.

The loudest game I've ever attended was AU-UF at JHS in 2006.

Nothing else even comes close

The final 2 minutes of the 2004 AU-LSU game belongs in the discussion. The crowd was completely insane during LSU's last possession before the game ended.

Nope.

Bama fan: "Nuh uhh, BDS is louder"
Auburn fan: "Nuh uhh, JHS is"
Bama fan: "Nuh uhh"
Auburn fan: "Uhh huh"
Repeat for 12 pages

Wilbon is an ESPN NBA hack....he knows NOTHING of college football...constantly makes erroneous predictions and non-factual claims...he shouls shut up and stick to his own little area of dubious knowledge !

No no no. He's a sports fan that is all knowledgeable. What he says is the truth and anyone who disagrees is wrong. He went to Northwestern where they know everything there is to know about college football, especially is the South.

Exactly. It turn from who's the best to who's the loudest. I personally don't think there's a clear cut answer but I will say the best stadiums are in the SEC. We spend enough money on them so they should be.

Sounds like I should hop in and end this conversation.

I've been to both therefore I know that JHS is louder than BDS.

Sorry but I am still laughing at this gem. You must deaf blind and dumb if you didn't see any of those in the upper deck, or the middle scholarship section

Who would have thought Mike Wilbon making a purely opinionated comment would have pissed off this many people. Why most of you have even written a comment is beyond me. You could have simply copy and pasted Wilbon is Yankee idiot who ain't never been in da South so what da frick does he know for 13 pages, and you would have made a nearly identical thread as this.

2002 Syracuse game was loud when Cadillac ran in for the game winning TD. I think most of the noise was relief that we could finally go home. A 3 OT game on TV that starts at 8 pm? WTF was that!

I thought the 2008 game at auburn was pretty damn loud myself. 2004 was pretty loud too.

BDS doesn't get loud until they play rammer jammer

I have been to ONE game in BDS, 2010 Iron Bowl, it wasnt like it was
quiet, but it deffinatly wasnt as loud as it shouldve been. Yall were on the brink of taking your hated rival out the national championship. It shouldve been a looooot louder. JHS was much louder for games like UF, LSU, and WVU.

What part of the stadium did you sit in for this game? If you were in either endzone in the stratosphere were we put most visitors than I fully support your statement. I've sat in those upper decks and its almost like watching the game from a plane flying over. Sound doesn't travel up there very well.

Now if you were in the lower bowl and you think the first half of that game wasn't loud than you need to get your ears checked. I've been to every SEC stadium and most of them twice. I don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that it wasn't as loud as any other stadium during the first half.

I do agree that we have some old farts that sit on their hands but during that first half and most of the big games its just not the case. Don't judge a stadiums loudness by sitting in the upper deck and thinking its the same level as on the field.
