So..., if true, it only became a problem for officials at the University once Butch's teams lost a few games to superior teams and is being used as an excuse to not pay money owed for a potential firing based on wins/losses?
Have fun with the lawsuit.
I don't think the University would try to leak it once they already covered it up. If its true its probably disgruntled players leaking it

Everybody but people wearing orange shades knows you are right.
They will continue to win in the preseason media.

Or its internet BS.
Either way, there is no way they would try to use it to get out of the buy out at this point, unless they have a Rice like situation with video evidence of repeated abuse of players during practices.
Now if he punched a player this week, then yeah, it can be used, but lawyers would be recruiting Butch like mad to take his case to court for a percentage of that buyout.

Its most likely internet bs. And if it is true you are correct. Its going to be a massive pr/legal shite storm

Yes, you have to make the move after the incident or after the incident is revealed to officials, which I'm sure they've been aware of if occurred.
This is why Long fired Petrino when he did, the rumor from a guy who has been in the know for decades was that Long spoke with Petrino's agent to set of a meeting and offer a new sanctioned contract, less pay, more requirements, way less buyout (like 2 mil instead of 18 mil) which was smart as our roster was shite, Petrino tried bluffing Long thinking he wouldn't fire him because of the 18 mil buyout and Long countered with the morals clause in his contract.
This is why Petrino never pursued a buyout amount or spoke of the firing in a public manner.
Butch may have something similar in his contract that a smart AD could use to renegotiate his buyout out to go along with a resignation instead of a firing if they are serious about giving up on a winner like that.

@ClayTravisBGID in 17 seasons Phil Fulmer blew a double digit lead 6 times. Butch Jones has done it 3 times in 5 games. #Butched

That's not true, we could have had Patterson, twice. We also could have had Cutcliff after Kiffin bolted.
Our AD couldn't possibly have fricked up worse than they have in the last 8 years.

You forgot about Gruden.
You could have had him 3 times now, but AD was too scared to pull the trigger.

We've had back to back top five Rivals recruiting classes even though we have been down for ten years.
Our recruiting is actually unprecedented in how good it is relative to the on field success.
So it's very weird that recruiting is always the first thing people that shite talk the UT job talk about.
Dooley had some barely top 25 classes so it isn't a given. Y'all have had good success recently because Butch is a good recruiter.

Recruiting for Tennessee is gonna do nothing but get easier. High School talent in state is getting much much better

2016 will tale the tell on this coach until then I'm not planning on job hunting.
If you can't understand the appeal of UT right now then you're kinda sorta an idiot (hey I'm trying to be nice).
Everything about the program has stabilized and gotten better. Talent is falling into place though needs one more signing class. If Butch fails then he's turned back into a turnkey operation for the next guy.
Oh and such things as Mid-state recruiting's enormous growth are bonuses.

They have two things going for them -- tradition, and a fanbase that gives a huge frick about their team. That's a nifty combination.
Also, they're practically guaranteed at least 3 nationally televised games a season with UF, UGA, and Bama.

Because Butch has stocked it up with players to win now.

Tennessee isn't a likely destination for the highest calibre coaching targets in the nation, but it is hilarious watching you morons acting like it is as bad of a destination as it was after Dooley. Tennessee would be able to entice quality candidates (and no, trolls, I'm not talking about fking Gruden or Chip Kelley). You people are totally clueless.

Dooley was pretty much the worst at everything.

100% agree. The state is very appealing to out of state job seekers due to a combination of a good economy and relatively good living conditions IE low crime, low cost of living, good schools, etc.
Tennessee high school football has already improved and will continue to improve going forward.
The Vols have top tier facilities in virtually every sport, not just football. Tennessee is still the only university in the country with a 100K football stadium and 20K basketball arena. That gives them a unique profile.
There is much to be hopeful for if you are a Vol fan. The Vols just need the right coach.
