With Bateman transferring out and rumors that Cornwell may as well we will only have one remaining scholarship QB on the roster. Tua will not redshirt and should be the #2 QB going into the spring.

Right because Saban has shown nonproclivity towards starting the best man for the job even if he is a true freshman. If Hurts passing game doesn't improve and Tua comes in as a better passer and shows as much poise why wouldn't he start.

Considering that Bama's backup QB has announced he is transfering, and also knowing how they use Hurts....it's not beyond reach that the new QB could be starting sometime next year if Hurts gets injured.

It's not that bad getting your first start as a redshirt sophmore.

Exactly. Great development. Gets some playing time as RS freshman and then ready to rock for 2-3 years as starter at arguably the best program in all of CFB. Best chances to win championships & Hypesman trophy(s) and optimize his NFL draft prospects. Very smart decision for him to go to Bama.

It could very well be a repeat of the Star Jackson/AJ McCarron situation in 2009. Star Jackson was listed as the #2 QB and got all of the reps as the primary backup but I've heard that Saban would have burned McCarron's redshirt and started him if McElroy had gotten injured and been out for a significant period of time.

He wouldn't pick Auburn because the Gus Bus has not proven he can develop a QB. The reason a QB would pick Bama preparing for the NFL. Also, even if Hurts stays through his Senior year, he will have two years to start.

Redshirt first year, sit behind Hurts' junior season and learn the offense, start your sophomore season. Seems reasonable.

He will still redshirt, just like AJ did behind GMac.

Anyone who thinks Saban will start him over hurts is an idiot. Especially if they win the title

Look at what OBJ has to say about Bama preparing players for the NFL.

We are talking about quarterbacks not nfl players in general. Moronic

And if hurts stays his senior?

You're justifying going to bans but ignoring the fact he'd have more playing time and could enter the nfl earlier somewhere else

Jake Fromm going to UGA is similar with Eason starting. Fromm could probably play from day 1 somewhere else but for whatever reason wants to go play at UGA abd get coached by the world renowned QB guru Jim Cheney and a defensive minded HC. He has a bright future..

I wouldn't completely rule out Fromm playing next year at UGA. Odds are against it, sure. But where Jalen Hurts and the Bama offense is at vs where Eason and the UGA offense is at are 2 different animals.

You know there is more to playing QB than throwing a football, right?

Do he doesn't have to face Bama's defense?

Why not go somewhere like auburn
Bad move unless they demonstrate they are going to alter their offensive philosophy by hiring a legit oc who understands how to use the passing game to force the defense to cover the whole field.
