Honestly. How do you even begin?

I remember having this thought when my cousin (who fricking hated football) was sitting with me during the miracle in jordan hare.

So we get to the part where Marshall throws up a prayer right:

I have some great surround sound and the crowd is fricking nuts. He looks at me and says "Holy shite". This guy doesnt know the first thing about the sport. He is a hardcore Auburn fan now and can name every player on the roster, down to their HS rating. Hes a sidewalk fan, but he reps Auburn with the best of them.

Let's move to Stephen Fry. I believe it was in 08 that he visited the iron bowl as part of an America tour documentary he was doing.

The game hadn't even started yet and he was moved to tears.

What other sport could move a man to tears before the game even starts?

This man had no inkling of an idea what college football was.

The pure joy of watching your team slaughter a hated rival, or lift a trophy is unmatched.

Another incredible example is Tyler Trent. The Purdue superfan who had perfect SAT scores and was battling cancer. He attended the Ohio State Purdue game (you know the one), and predicted a win.

Purdue would win 49-20. They made this dudes dream come true. Sadly, he passed at age 20.

I'd say my first true GREAT experience with LSU football came in 2007. I had started my football dive in 06. But then Flynn to Byrd happened.

Now , I was a young arse 12 year old back then but that shite got me on my feet cheering . Dad was yelling at grandpa, grandpa was yelling at me. Was fricking great.

These players are your heroes growing up. CFB is bad arse.

Was going to share my story.

Saw your story about Auburn and then got depressed.

Now I’m out on this idea

My parents took me to LSU games since I was a toddler. My first memory was LSU v. UF, 1997. I remember the the place erupted after the game. Over the years, I’ve been to a lot of games and have been a part of the program at one point. It’s nearly impossible to pick one, defining momenf. My favorite time of the year is coming again. Can’t wait to get back out to campus and eat, drink, smoke cigars and watch football all day long.

I was a freshman at LSU when the Earth shook. Hard to top that one for me.

That game may be what led me to enjoy defensive struggles.

I was at TGOC in Tuscaloosa and thought it was a great game. Lots of people hated that game because it was nothing but FGs

Good defensive battles are good.

But if its 9-6 because the offenses suck, that's different.

2007-08 when Mizzou climbed all the way too number one in the polls and beat kU to do it... if it wasn't for Sam Bradford beating us twice I would probably have even fonder memories.

Either way this solidified my MU fandom, and I've been craving that feeling ever since

The thing I ALWAYS try to get people to realize:

American football is a college sport that morphed into youth and professional ranks. It was a club sport that grew as other schools learned about it. Began as soccer where hard contract was allowed, then started morphing into rugby style. Walter Camp finally made some official rules in 1875 including a line of scrimmage where you take a small break to design a play. Still only Northeastern schools even knew the sport existed.

Pro football was simply created by guys who missed the game after college and wanted to keep playing. It’s a college sport.

Being that we are College fans, this is why we cannot clamoir to make it look like the NFL or HS with playoffs instead of bowls.

College Football is the only sport with bowls. Meanwhile fans love to mock the bowl games and polls. College Football invented polls which now every college sport has. Please respect the history. Let’s clueless pro fans from NYC be the ones mocking bowls, not us the true college fans.

I don't remember my first one but there are a couple that stickout in my mind. 1999 egg bowl. One of the greatest comebacks ever i got to rush the field and help tear down the goal post and carry it down University avenue. September 30, 2000 we whipped the number 3 ranked gator arse. 47-35.

My first great CFB experience was South Carolina-Georgia in 2000. In 1999 South Carolina went 0-11 and there was little optimism going into the 2000 season. After starting out the year with a victory over New Mexico State, we hosted #10 Georgia in Week 2 and pulled the upset 21-10. I was only 10 years old at the time and after seeing the Gamecocks lose so many games in the past few years I was in disbelief after this game. Not to mention South Carolina finished the year 8-4 with a victory over Ohio State in the Outback Bowl. Not the greatest season by any means, but after 0-11 it made me fall in love with College Football.

I was like 9;

UGA-UF, 1980, MY MOTHER WAS A FANATICAL UGA fan, i remember her being so upset over the impending loss to the gators and the undefeated season going bye bye,

I walked outside right before the miracle 90ish yard TD pass from Buck Belue to Lindsey Scott

and then i heard my mother yelling run Lindsey so i ran back on the house in time to see him score and half the crowd (UGA half of course) going apr shiz.

Probably still my overall best memory of college football and cemented my passion for UGA football, my mom was freaking crying she was so happy!

My first major college game...I was 11 years old when my friend's family took me to see Auburn-Ga. Tech in Birmingham. John "Rat" Riley missed a FG on the last play of the game that would have won it for Auburn. It was glorious.

Pitt @ A&M in 2003. Larry Fitzgerald broke his foot off in our arse.

Not a 'great' experience. But it was my first.

Grew up an FSU fan (parents went there), prior to going to Alabama and having that get in my blood.

One of my best memories was in 2003, FSU with terrible Chris Rix battled NC State and Philip Rivers in an absolute barn burner at the Doak. Craphonso Thorpe caught the game winning TD in OT, breaking his leg in two whilst doing it. The wave of emotions was absolutely insane.

Favorite Alabama memory was either the Clemson game, or Georgia game in 2008... or maybe Rocky Block against Tennessee in '09. I was blackout to hell in the student section, but I remember everything about that play. The nervous screaming pre-snap, the absolute hush as the holder received the ball, the "thud" as the ball hit Cody's arm, and the absolute loudest single roar I'd ever heard ensuing.

Was awesome.

I love college football, but Bowls, especially now, are super dumb.

It's like having an ABA fan from the Spirit of St. Louis scream at the top of his lungs that the 3 point line was "their idea," or the owner of the peach company who sold James Naismith the basket for which he invented the game, beating his chest.

There are people who love college football and pro football. Just because the NFL is 3x more popular, doesn't mean we as college fans have to take any sort of offense to it. I think we enjoy the game more for the atmosphere and pageantry, anyways. 75% of college games are unwatchable - it's really the top 5% that make it great, and what we remember years down the line.

12/2/1978 My dad worked the gates at the games back then. So I got to go to a few games now and then. My mom and I had tickets to Georgia vs Georgia Tech. Georgia was ranked in the top 20 and Georgia Tech got out to a big lead. Jeff Pyburn was the QB1 and got dinged up, in comes this freshman QB named Buck Belue. He brought us back to win 29-28. I remember screaming and yelling so loud with my mom. That is when I fell in love with college football.
