Eerily similar stats to a national championship winning QB from the SEC

National Championship Winning SEC QB Stats
during National Championship Season

*Red Zone Comp pct: 35% (Burrell: 31%)
*Comp pct vs SEC: 59% (Burrell: 58%)
*Pass TDs per game vs SEC: 1.3 (Burrell: 1.0)
*300-yard games vs Power Five: 0 (Burrell: 0)

It’s really simple and not necessarily Related to Joe production last year :

2001;2003;2007:2011;2013

Those are the ONLY years LSU has had a returning Senior QB (we had 2 in 2011). Other than 2013, we win the SEC Championship game. We don’t need a Heisman QB. If we have a McElroy, Hurts or anyone similar for the last several years, we have at least 3 more nattys (06,11 and 12). The undenialable fact is that when LSU has a veteran, serviceable QB that does not turn the ball over and makes minimum 3rd down conversations they are EXTREMELY dangerous. Sort of like Alabama with a dominant D and RB in the same year. You didn’t lose the natty last year bc of Tia, you lost it bc you did not have a dominant D and RB combo. 11/3/11 is the only game I have ever seen y’all lose with a dominant D and RB.

Burrow is an average QB. LSU can win games with him but will never win a championship of any kind.

He beat out Dwayne Haskins, but decided he wanted to transfer

He's one of the top 5 QBs in the country

His receivers have actually used the JUGS machine this year

LSU has 2 national championships, 4 SEC championships, and 6 divisional titles since 2000, ALL won with average QBs - who just happened to be returning SRs.

If I'm not mistaken, Ryan Perrilloux is the only 5* QB LSU has signed this century.

Why the Joe Burrow hype from LSU fans

Because Louisiana folks like having a Messianic figure to put all their hope into.

Thus Breesus, Mettsiah and now whatever it is were calling Burrow these days.

One day the procephy will come true. It did with Breesus.

The drops were a problem more in the beginning of last season and became less of a problem throughout the year; however, a lot of LSU fans would have you believe that this was a such a detriment to Burrow’s stats when in reality it wasn’t.

At some point in the off season, I think right after last season ended, I even saw a statistic that showed Burrow being less of a victim to drops in 2018 than several other SEC QB’s. He may have been in the middle of the pack.

So yeah, the drops argument is terrible and should be completely disregarded. That being said, the WR corps is very talented and experienced this year, which is expected to help Burrow. Couple this with the higher % throws this offense is expected to incorporate, and you’ll understand a little better why LSU fans expect a much improved year from Burrow.

Half of those were with Nick Saban as your coach. The other half were with Nick Saban recruits that Miles benefited from. You have Ed Orgeron as your coach now who has been shutout in 2 of his 3 games against Alabama. Good luck winning championships.
